Food Safety Specialist and Quality Control

Job Description: 

Stern Produce is a family owned produce wholesaler established in 1917.  Our main warehouse is located in Phoenix, Arizona, with additional warehouses in Flagstaff and Tucson.

We are currently searching for a Food Safety Specialist and Quality Control in Phoenix, AZ.

As the Food Safety Specialist and Quality Control person, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing all of the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures. You will conduct food safety audits, as well as manage third party audits. You will also be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and sanitation of the facility, and ensure that the Company is complying with all food safety requirements.

Requirements: 
  • Must have food safety experience, preferably in produce.
  • Must have working knowledge of GAP’s, GMP’s, HACCP and GFSI.
  • Previous experience with SQF, GFSI a plus.
  • Effective communication across multiple teams, emphasizing urgency in resolving issues or concerns.
  • Demonstrate strong and sound decision making capabilities.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Provide training for food safety and quality requirements for new employees.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of standard operating procedures, as well as maintaining manuals, and policy and procedures relating to food safety.
  • Conduct facility food safety audits, as well as manage third party audits.
  • Work with purchasing on educating potential suppliers on food safety requirements.
  • Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation of all facilities.
  • Ensure all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented at all times.
  • Update food safety procedures to keep up with changing requirements.
  • Check all product for quality.
  • Oversee the proper rotation of product to assure quality.
