With the latest cinematic take on the Fantastic Four days away from hitting theaters, it only makes sense for Honest Trailers to debut its take on the 2005 attempt — and its sequel — to bring Marvel’s first family to life.

The Honest Trailer for the 2005 version of Fantastic Four, as well as Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, doesn’t pull punches in pointing out the faults of the last incarnation of Marvel’s famous team on-screen. From the film’s egregiously obvious foreshadowing of powers to the franchise’s obession, along with plenty of other superhero films, on cloud-based villains.

At the very least, the series sputtering out paved the way for Chris Evans to become Captain America.

Watch the trailer above, and prepare for the latest Fantastic Four to hit theaters on Aug. 7.
