A would-be gay-basher got more than he bargained for when the two men he attacked in a New York City bodega turned out to be trained graduates of the U.S. military academy at West Point.

According to the New York Daily News, West Point graduates and husbands Daniel and Larry Lennox-Choate were shopping at a bodega in SoHo when a man spewing antigay epithets rushed up and punched Daniel in the face.

Larry Lennox-Choate wrote on Facebook that he leapt to his husband's defense and the assailant "left covered in his own blood with his tail between his legs."

"I handled the situation and tossed him in the street like the coward loser he is," the Facebook post continued. "The hate crimes division of the NYPD is on the case and we have full faith a positive outcome will follow."

“We refuse to be victims and are thankful we can defend ourselves, but are saddened by the fact that idiots like this guy might not pick two guys who went through Plebe Boxing next time,” he concluded.

The couple graduated from West Point in the classes of 2007 and 2009 and were married in 2013.
