‘Chateau in the sky’ at Zeckendorf’s 515 Park Avenue sells for $26M

The sale of a full-floor duplex penthouse at Zeckendorf Development’s 515 Park Avenue has finally closed, revealing that the “chateau in the sky” most recently asking $35 million sold at a discount for $26 million. Even so, the price per square foot for the apartment in the used car of luxury developments came in at $5,600, well above that metric in other NYC luxury buildings. By comparison, apartments in Zeckondorf’s nearby 520 Park Avenue are raking in an absurd $8,000 per square foot. Rutenberg NYC’s Tak Cheung brokered the sale.

The apartment, owned by former ballerina and Ford model Shelia Rosenblum and her now-estranged husband, sold to an unnamed Chinese buyer. The Rosenblum’s first listed the 5,000-square-foot apartment for $31 million back in 2011. The listing at the time touted the apartment’s Juan Pablo Molyneux renovation while imparting some truly quote-worthy brokerbabble:

That more-is-more approach comes through in the living room designed in the French Moderne style by Sandra Nunnerley and floors of marble and onyx in the entry. The apartment has four bedrooms and four full and on half bathrooms. The sale also included a 653-square-foot guest, or maid’s, apartment on a lower floor that also holds a wine cellar for the apartment.

Alice Walton, Walmart family billionaire, also owns an over-the-top duplex at 515 Park Avenue, for which she paid $25 million in 2014.
