Sobriety Checkpoint Coming Up in Harford County

The Harford County Sheriff's Office announced weekend enforcement initiative to curb drunk driving.

Deputies will be on the lookout in Harford County next weekend for drunk drivers.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint to identify those driving while intoxicated (DWI) on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

In Maryland, the legal limit for alcohol consumption is .08 percent.

This past weekend, the State Police Impaired Driving Effort (SPIDRE) arrested 15 impaired drivers, including six repeat offenders and one hit-and-run driver with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, police reported Monday.

This Saturday, Bel Air Beer Week and the Havre de Grace Seafood Festival are on tap. Next weekend—when the sobriety checkpoint is planned—coincides with the Bel Air BBQ Bash.
