Britain's Marcus Willis, who gained fame by coming from pre-qualifying to reach the second round of Wimbledon, is engaged to his girlfriend, Jennifer Bate.

Bate, a dentist, became a recognizable figure at the event. She was seen courtside during his matches, and was credited with persuading Willis to keep playing professionally.

Willis, who entered the tournament ranked No. 772 but is now No. 456, announced the engagement on social media.
