Kraft Singles Recall: 36,000 Cases Of Sliced Cheese Recalled Due To Potential Choking Hazard

Kraft has recalled more than 36,000 cases of sliced cheese due to a potential choking hazard.

According to a report by KULR-8, the Kraft Heinz Company made the decision to voluntarily recall nearly 40,000 cases of sliced American and white American cheese after receiving complaints that part of the film was sticking to the slices even after the wrapper was removed. So far, 10 consumer complaints have been received by the company, with three of those reporting consumers choking.

The recall applies to the three and four pound packages of cheese that have the “Best if Used By Date” of December 29, 2015 through January 4, 2016. They also include the manufacturing code of code of S54, or S55. The recalled products were sold in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Grand Cayman, but were not delivered to Canada, ABC 7 reports.

Those customers who purchased the affected products are being urged to not eat them and return them to the store of purchase to receive a full refund, or exchange for a different product. Customers can also contact the Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations for a full refund, at (800) 432-3101, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern.

According to a previous report by the Inquisitr, Kraft issued another voluntary recall in March after several consumers reported finding small pieces of metal in their boxes. The prior recall included 42,000 cases of their macaroni and cheese dinners that had the “Best if Used By Date” of September 18, 2015, through October 11, 2015, and had the specific code “C2.”

“We believe a piece of stainless steel got wedged in a metal piece of equipment, which may have generated friction that resulted in small pieces of metal potentially falling into the product,” Joyce Hodel, a Kraft spokeswoman, said in a statement at the time, according to the Huffington Post. Those products were also sold in the United States, Puerto Rico, and some Caribbean and South American countries, but were not sold in Canada. Luckily, no injuries were reported with that recall.
