Treatments for James Eliopoulos

JAMES' STORY-PLEASE SHARE
James Eliopoulos, a Grade 11 E.L. Crossley student from Fenwick, Ontario, was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in March 2017, not in Canada, but fortunately found proper testing in the United States.  James has been struggling with symptoms of the disease without diagnosis for 4 years. Being so young at the time when symtoms first started, I imagine it was very confusing and scary at the same time. He was unable to articulate the brain fog, loss of concentration, chronic fatigue, anxiety, that a young boy should never have to feel. As years passed and more symptoms appeared, he expressed his concerns with his father and I. Strange symptoms that doctors couldn't really understand either, such as visual snow (imagine your peripheral vision looking like tv static 24/7). He had light sensitivity, chronic dizziness, chronic tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and headaches 24/7. These are just some of the symptoms he faces every single day. James had to give up all the things he loved such as hockey (Pelham Panthers/watching the IceDogs), paintball, dirt biking, and just hanging out with friends. He quit school (E.L. Crossley), where he enjoyed socializing with his friends, and just trying to keep things normal.
George (Mr. E./A.K. Wigg Public School) and l (Heather), brought James to Sponaugle Wellness Institute in Florida, where 12000 patients have gone for treatment, with several from the Niagara Region. On March 13, he started an intensive treatment program.  At this point we do not know how many months it will take for him to get better. Treatment is expensive, around $7000 per week. This treatment is not covered by OHIP or insurance, and there are no doctors in Canada who treat for chronic Lyme disease. We would greatly thank anyone who would like to help us with funding to off set the cost for his medical treatment. With your help we are one step closer to beating James' Lyme disease.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
