West Ham have fingers crossed as Valencia suffers knee injury

West Ham United are hoping for the best for Enner Valencia following Thursday night's Europa League clash with Astra Giurgiu.

The Ecuadorian striker was stretchered off the Upton Park pitch with a knee injury in the second half of the 2-2 draw in the first leg of third round qualifying of Europe's second tier club competition.

Valencia, who had earlier scored the opener for the Hammers, will now have a scan to asses the extent of the damage with manager Slaven Bilic admitting he is anxious for the result.

"I am worried to be fair," he said.

"It looks serious but we won't know for sure until he has a scan."

West Ham will now prepare for the return bout in Romania next Thursday as they look to progress to the play-off stage of Europa League qualifying.
