MASTERCLASS SESSIONS:
10.20am – 10.40am: Beyond the Cellar Door with Brown Brothers
Get a taste of the innovative wine workshops being offered at Brown Brothers, part of a new range of wine tourism products available at their King Valley Cellar Door. Hear about consumer trends, plans for the future as well as special offers exclusive to Taste of Two Regions visitors.
11.00am – 11.20am: Two families - winemakers and cheesemakers with Cofields and Boosey Creek
The Cofield family have been making wine in Rutherglen for two generations now, and are renowned for their sparkling wines, as well as regional specialties Durif and Muscat. The Cameron family make artisanal cheese from their Boosey Creek dairy farm, bringing pasture to plate. In this masterclass Ken Cameron will match cheese to Damien Cofield's wines, and teach you what makes a great wine and cheese match.
11.40am – 12.00pm: Nebbiolo: an Italian romance with Pizzini Wines
Nebbiolo, known as Italy’s most revered red wine grape, is often described as vibrant, sensitive and tantalising. It’s finicky about where it grows and it’s notoriously tricky to make, but Alfred Pizzini has fallen in love with the wine, and thinks you might, too, after a taste.
12.00pm – 12.40pm: Muscat: to blend or not to blend with Scion
Rowly Milhinch of Scion in Rutherglen is forging the way with ‘new muscat’ - an approach that is bringing new energy and focus to an iconic Australian wine style. In this masterclass he will talk us through the question ‘to blend or not to blend’ - taste Rowly’s Muscat Nouveau and explore some new ways to enjoy it.
1.00pm – 1.20pm: Pioneers of Prosecco with Dal Zotto Wines
Immerse yourself in the fastest growing wine category in the world right now - Prosecco. Whilst tasting the Dal Zotto family's extensive range of Prosecco, you'll hear why and how Otto Dal Zotto pioneered Prosecco in Australia, and why the King Valley is the natural home of this elegant, aromatic and fun sparkling wine.
1.40pm – 2.00pm: Meet Mead: an introduction with Whitehead's Mead
If you enjoy craft beer and interesting wines, mead is for you. Flavours are created by the the flowers bees feed on, to produce highly disinctive honey, leading to a range of meads ideal for food pairing, cocktail mixing or savouring straight. Taste the innoative range of mead made by the Whitehead family from their King Valley apiary, and see if your taste runs to sweet, dry, spiced or maybe the berry melomels.
2.20pm – 2.40pm: Portuguese Varieties Masterclass with Stanton & Killeen
Discover the diverse flavours of Stanton and Killeen's alternative varieties in a masterclass featuring Portuguese wine styles, led by Wendy Killeen. Trip through a guided tasting of Sparkling Tempranillo, Rosé, two very different Tempranillos, The Prince Reserva and Vintage Port.
3.00pm – 3.20pm: Creative CORRELL Cocktails with Jones Winery
CORRELL is a blanc aperitif created and made by Jones Winery & Vineyard. Join us to discover the many diverse ways it can be used in to create refreshing, palate enlivening drinks. Discover CORRELL muscat spritzers and a host of other tantalizing innovative cocktails.
3.40pm – 4.00pm: Journey to Perfection with Buller Wines
Join us for a journey through our fortified range through the age groups. Victoria Muscat -5 Year old Fine Old Muscat- 10 Years Old Grand Muscat – 20 Years Old Rare Muscat – 50 years old and 100/100 “the perfect wine” from Robert Parker. We will be talking about the Solera method. Join in on a Q&A with our Winemaker and Marketing Manager.
4.20pm – 4.40pm: ‘Old Roots, New Shoots’ with Valhalla Wines
Learn more about the Rhone Valley grapes grown in Rutherglen.
