A Danville middle-schooler heads to international baseball classic in Dominican Republic

Colin Ferreira, a seventh grader at Diablo Vista Middle School in Danville, has been chosen to represent the United States in the Latin American Baseball Classic (LABC) held next month in the Dominican Republic.

The U.S. team selects players from 35 tryouts held across the nation. Colin was selected based upon tryouts held at the Danville Baseball Academy where he plays as a pitcher, catcher, and third baseman.

The LABC is the largest international baseball event of Latin America. Teams competing since 2007 hail from the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, St. Croix, St. Thomas, British Virgin Islands and elsewhere.
