HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) – A violent argument left a woman from Delaware bleeding and unconscious inside a truck stop in Hubbard.
Officers were called to the Flying J Travel Plaza, 2226 N. Main St., at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday for a woman who was assaulted.
When officers arrived, they found the 31-year-old woman lying on the ground and bleeding profusely from the head, according to a police report.
The report indicated that witnesses saw the woman and her driving partner, Kelvin Fitzpatrick, 40, of Lithonia, Georgia, arguing earlier in the evening.
The witness told police that Fitzpatrick dumped the woman’s belongings out of their truck, and that he let the woman sleep in his van until Fitzpatrick “cooled off.”
Later, Fitzpatrick approached the van where the woman was sleeping, and according to the witness, took a 2X4 piece of wood from inside the vehicle. The witness said that while he was trying to get the wood away from Fitzpatrick, the woman ran inside a bathroom and Fitzpatrick followed her.
The witness said he heard a loud bang before Fitzpatrick came out of the bathroom and took off in a tractor-trailer.
While officers were questioning witnesses, Fitzpatrick came back to the truck stop and turned himself in to police.
Police retrieved the piece of wood from the bathroom and placed it in to evidence.
Fitzpatrick was charge with felonious assault and criminal damaging.
