Ninjago expansion coming to Legoland

Share

Characters from Lego’s Ninjago universe will be arriving next spring at Legoland as part of a new attraction and ride it will be introducing.

The Carlsbad theme park is revealing little about its latest expansion plans, other than to say they revolve around the Lego Ninjago line of construction toys that are also featured on a TV series on the Cartoon Network. Legoland said it will release more details in mid-September when it will hold a formal press conference to promote the attraction.

The new area, to be located on the southeast side of the park near the Imagination Zone, will, for now, be fenced off as construction gets under way, said Legoland spokesman Jake Gonzalez. It will include interactive elements and a new ride featuring the Ninja characters.

This year, Lego introduced 22 new building sets within the Ninjago line.

Each year, Legoland California introduces new attractions, some larger than others, among them last year’s 2.5-acres expansion of its water park, modeled after the Lego product line and cartoon show, “Legends of Chima.” The scope of the Ninjago area, Gonzalez said, is more in keeping with the 1.5-acre Pirate Reef attraction that opened in 2012 and features Lego pirate ships, water cannons and a 25-foot plunge down a chute.
