The National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) has announced that it will be supporting this year’s Small Business Saturday campaign, which highlights the success of small businesses and encourages consumers to shop locally in their communities.

The campaign encourages consumers to dedicate one shopping Saturday in December to visiting their local independent retailers, with this year’s event taking place on Saturday 5th December.

The NFRN was in attendance at the national launch of 2015’s Small Business Saturday campaign last week. National president Ralph Patel said: “Small businesses come in a variety of forms and whilst many of our members may not feel this campaign is for them I can confirm that it is! I encourage all members to make the most of this campaign and showcase their store as the invaluable asset to the local community that it is.”

NFRN chief executive Paul Baxter added: “We are pleased to be working with Small Business Saturday again this year and hope to increase engagement amongst our members to ensure they see the benefit of this important campaign.”
