Vineland crew member out for season with concussion

VINELAND - An unidentified female member of the Vineland High School crew team is out of action for the remainder of the season due to a concussion suffered in a bus accident in Millville on May 12, school Superintendent Mary Gruccio confirmed on Wednesday.

There were 19 students on the team bus and the initial reports said injuries were few and minor. A Vineland woman driving a car struck by the bus suffered a broken wrist.

The accident occurred on Wheaton Avenue at Kemble Avenue. Bus driver Mariella K. Vazquez, 44, of Vineland was cited for careless driving.

Vineland’s crew team uses a facility off the Maurice River in South Millville.

The school system owns the bus and is self-insured.
