30A Road Crew Heads to SweetWater 420 Fest for Recycling Mission and More

The 30A Company road crew has packed up the big blue 30A Radio Airstream to hit the road to Atlanta for the SweetWater 420 Festival.

In addition to broadcasting live to our 30A Radio listeners from our 30A Airstream studio, The 30A Company’s commitment to the environment (plus our laid-back beach vibes) made us a perfect partner with SweetWater Brewing and Rubicon Global for the festival’s annual recycling efforts.

Every year, festival organizers incorporate recycling into their festival clean-up, asking attendees to chip in and make a difference. This year, 30A is excited to bring our Dumpster Divers into the mix. For every bag of plastic an attendee collects from festival grounds, they can trade it in for a 30A Dumpster Diver special-edition t-shirt, made of recycled plastic, or a SweetWater beer.

“We are thrilled with this partnership,” said JoAnn Ribaudo, chief operating officer for The 30A Company. “We saw their commitment to recycling and really wanted to support it.

“We’re always working to remind people that change starts with each person and this is an amazing way to incorporate that into a festival that draws over 70,000 people.”

This year’s 420 Fest features over 50 bands and djs including Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio Band, Ween, Slightly Stoopid, Dirty Heads, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, The Hip Abduction and Anders Osborne.

Tune in to 30A Radio all weekend long for interviews with artists, special performances and more.

If you’re heading to the festival, make sure to stop by and see us at the 30A Radio Airstream and the 30A and Rubicon Global recycling booth. We’ll be in the Planet 420 EcoVillage, near the Planet 420 Stage. (Here’s a map.)

And don’t forget to stop by the 30A Radio Airstream to register to win a killer vacation package from 30A Cottages and Concierge!

30A Radio will also partner with Sing Me a Story, a nonprofit that takes original stories written or illustrated by children in need and turns them into songs. Festival artists, including Twiddle and The Hip Abduction, will take those stories and write a song based on them and then stop by the 30A Radio Airstream to record them. Proceeds go to benefit children in need and their families.

INSIDERS’ TIP: Download the official 420 Fest App, powered by 30A, for iPhone and Android.

Plastic is a growing problem for our environment. Every year in the United States alone, we throw away about 35 billion plastic bottles. In the last ten years, we’ve produced more plastic than the entire last century, and that plastic doesn’t go away. Almost all the plastic ever made still exists in some form. Much of that has ended up in our oceans.

That’s why our latest innovation, the Dumpster Diver line, is made from recycled plastic. Each piece saves about eight plastic bottles from landfills and oceans. LEARN MORE: 30ADUMPSTERDIVER.COM.
