Peachy Keen Afghan

Great for a living room or bedroom, this Peachy Keen Afghan from Roseanna Beck is a quick and easy crochet afghan pattern that's perfect for crochet fans of all skill levels.  This afghan is also light and lacy, making it perfect for spring and summer.  While this afghan is made with a soft peachy colored yarn, you can easily make it in whatever color you'd like.

Materials:

  • 7 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Peachy
  • 5.0mm (US H-8), 5.5mm (US I-9) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge: With H hook-8 rows – 4”;  4 scs, ch 3, 4 scs, ch 3, 4 scs – 4 ½”; 2 dcs, sc in loop, 2 dcs, sc in loop, 2 dcs – 4”

 

Instructions:
Afghan Measures:  41” x 52”

  1. Row 1:   With H hook ch 133, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, *ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, repeat from * across. sc in each of last 2 ch, turn.
     
  2. Row 2 (RS):  Ch 6, (counts as dc, ch 3), *sc in ch 3 loop, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 2 loop, ch 3, repeat from * across, dc in last st, turn.
     
  3. Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in first dc, sc in ch 3 loop, * ch 3, sc in ch 3 loop, ch 2, sc in ch 3 loop, repeat from * across, sc in last loop, sc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.

 

Color Scheme

  1. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for a total of 95 rows ending with Row 3, turn, do not fasten off.

 

Edging

  1. Round 1:  Work along top edge ch 3, 2 dc in same stitch, *ch 3, sc in ch 3 loop, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 2 loop, repeat from * across, ch 3, 3 dc in last sc.
     
  2. Work along side edge *ch 3, sc in first dc, ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * across, ch 3, 3 dc in first bottom ch.
     
  3. Work along bottom edge *ch 3, sc in ch 3 loop, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch 2 loop, repeat from * across, ch 3, 3 dc in last ch.
     
  4. Work along side edge *ch 3, sc in first dc, ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * across, ch 3, join to top of beginning ch 3.
     
  5. Round 2:  Work along top edge (sc, ch 3, dc) in center dc of corner 3 dc, (sc, ch 3, dc) in each ch 3 space across, (sc, ch 3, dc) in center dc of corner 3 dc.
     
  6. Work along side edge (sc, ch 3, dc) in each ch 3 space across, (sc, ch 3, dc) in center dc of bottom corner 3 dc.
     
  7. For bottom edge and opposite side edge work pattern as established, join to beginning sc and fasten off.
