The Franciscan Friars welcome all to week-long concert series

KENNEBUNK - Classical opera, jazz, and piano concerts at the Franciscan Guest House will be held at 8 p.m. Aug 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14. Performers include: Dr. Frances Covalesky, piano and Ms. Giliana Norkunas, mezzo-soprano on Aug. 1; Mr. Christopher Staknys, piano and Mr. Darius Shubert, piano on Aug. 3; Ms. Simona Minns, voice, Mr. Dorsey Minns, trombone, and Mr. Caleb Hensinger, keyboard on Aug. 5. Ms. Danute Mileika, mezzo-soprano, Mr. Antanas Meilus, tenor with Dr. Frances Covalesky as piano accompanist on Aug. 7; and an encore performance featuring Dr. Covalesky and Ms. Mileika that will benefit the Franciscan Monastery on Aug. 14. The Aug. 14 concert includes Mileika, a mezzo-soprano and opera soloist from Boston; and Covalesky, a pianist, on the music faculty of the College of Saint Elizabeth, Morristown, N.J., who will present an evening of opera, sacred and classical music favorites like Faure’s Ave Maria and Debussy’s Clair de Lune. Mileika and Covalesky perform nationally and internationally and are the recipient of awards and recognition spanning their musical careers. They are returning featured guest artists to the Franciscan Monastery. The benefit concert is open to the public and free will offerings will be accepted for the Franciscan Friars at the door, which opens at 7:45 p.m.
