A 17 year-old High School student on Tuesday stunned a Narok Court after he confessed to having played a role in the hijacking and eventual killing of a taxi driver last month.

The student risks being sentenced to hang but not until criminal investigation officers establish his age and his mental condition and submit a report before Chief Magistrate Wilbroda Juma on Monday.

He was brought to the parked court with two of his alleged accomplices also students at the same school where the charges of robbery with violence were read to him three times and he pleaded guilty.

The Magistrate directed the prosecutor Mr David Mwangi and criminal investigation officers to prepare a report of the accused and present it before the court in the next six days before the fate of the accused is determined.

The second and third accused pleaded not guilty to the offense and were sent back to police cells until Monday when the court will determine if they will be granted bail or not.

They were represented by lawyer Victor Olewe, who requested to be given documentary exhibits of the case, charge sheets and statements of the case.

There was a showdown between the prosecution and the defence lawyer over whether they should be released on bail or not.

The teenagers are being linked to the killing of the Narok taxi driver after they were found with his Toyota Premio car, registration number KBN 120P, which had been reported missing, with his decomposing body dumped in the boot.

The teenagers were arrested at Nakuru town by police who intercepted the car on the Nakuru-Nyahururu road. They were later taken to Narok where they were presented in court.

Three other teenagers who had been arrested in connection with the carjacking and killing of the taxi driver were released by a Narok court last week for lack of evidence.
