I confess I'd never heard of this author but saw this book was free and so thought I'd give it a go. Well what a pleasant surprise! I do read shifter stories but they are not my favourite due to the idea of bones breaking etc so I really wasn't expecting to like this story quite as much as I do. Right from the start it's a captivating tale pulsating with suspense and danger and it just pulled me in.
Essentially it's a book that has a serial killer hunting down his perfect female. Skylar is the woman he has set his sights on but whilst he waits to get closer to her he cannot help but enact his base needs out on unsuspecting women. Due to the fear that a werewolf is responsible for the violent attacks local alpha Wyatt is brought in to help the police investigate. What he discovers is a remarkable similarity between the dead women and the female that he finds one night running for her life. Skylar knows she has a stalker but has no idea just how dangerous he really is . When followed one night she collides with the biggest baddest wolf she's ever met but her well ordered life is about to go right out of control as Wyatt is her Mate!
This book has it all, mystery, drama, humour and of course insane passion! I loved Skylar and whether she's biting, kicking, punching or head butting she's anything but submissive! Wyatt is no slouch either though as he is most definitely uber alpha and I loved his growly ways. Skylar may reject authority and prefer to be a lone wolf but these two dominant wolves sure do have fun clashing with each other! Add in supporting characters who love to push their alphas buttons and it made a very entertaining read. I'm certainly hunting down more from this author and I am very happy to recommend this book to my fellow lovers of paranormal stories.
As I type this book is currently free on amazon so go check it out

I was given an Arc by the author for an honest review.

I really liked this story and the way it was written.

The dynamic between Sky and Wyatt is explosive and will make you laugh and whisper "you go girl" a couple of times!

The suspence is kept through out the book and is very well written wondering who the villain is that at times the creepy feeling will slip out to you through the book!

Very well written characters as well as the sex scenes between the two were damn hot and steamy!!!

A really well done Job from Gwen Knight!!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Bam! Gwen Knight slam dunks with her third book! After my extreme enjoyment of her first two books, I've followed this author's career closely, and I'm happy to report that this latest offering is the best yet.

Wyatt and Sky are dynamic characters with clashing personalities - yet they make it work, and without changing who they are or what they stand for. Bad boys can love, too! And they can still be "bad boys". The art with which Ms. Knight accomplishes this is just awesome.

The start is nothing short of frightening. I can't even imagine living with Skylar has gone through. And the book doesn't shy away from the terrifying concepts - a stalker masturbating over the phone to the sound of her voice? ZOMG I'll just go hide in my closet now. But Skylar's strength and willingness to face reality makes me want to cheer. She's no wilting lily who needs a man to stand up for her.

And yet, there is a man who would move heaven and earth to keep her safe. Alpha Wyatt isn't sure why he's drawn to such a cantankerous woman, but their chemistry says it all. One kiss - and what a kiss it is! - and he's certain he'll die before he sees her hurt. Yet for all of that, he isn't turned into some kind of lovesick puppy. This alpha is all wolf, and seeing him and Sky come to terms with each other is often hilarious. When they aren't poking at each other, they're challenging each other, and finally comforting each other.

The final conflict is edge-of-your-seat fantastic. No spoilers here. But you'll grip your e-reader and swipe the pages as quickly as you can, I guarantee it! This mystery is one I was certain I'd unraveled - and then Ms. Knight throws another curveball that will leave you scrambling. I howled when the killer was finally revealed, but it was such a satisfying howl! Sometimes you feel as though an author has gone out of their way to trick you, leaving too few or too many clues along the way. This feels like the perfect balance to me, and yet I think most readers will chase the wrong lead, only to sit slack-jawed at the brilliance with which the ending was woven. Well played, was all I could think!

The love scenes are steamy and satisfying, with an excellent development and progression between the characters. Giving themselves to each other - literally - was a "YES!" moment in my mind.

A wonderful read, offering everything a lover of all things wolf could ask. 10-10, would read again!

I really enjoyed this book. I love reading paranormal and shifter books, but usually they are mostly sex and less story -not always a bad thing- but here we get an actual storyline. I love that Sky has a dominant personality and took charge of her life from the time she left her pack and never backed down or allowed anyone to control her - another thing most female leads lack. When it comes to Wyatt, well, he's a typical alpha. It's hard to find fault in that! :) This book has more of a dark mystery theme with the added romance. I think Sky and Wyatt make the perfect alpha couple, and hope we get to see more of their lives and how their relationship progresses. I rated it 5 stars because I love a strong female, a dominating but possessive and protective alpha male, and mostly because I really was able to get into and enjoy the story. I have to say, I didn't figure out who the stalker was on my own, I was going a completely different way.
Overall - great story, great characters, and now I can't wait for the rest!

I received an arc for an honest review..... Thanks for that by the way, Gwen!

This book was finishable and functionally proficient but the pacing was off and the characters didn't work.
Wyatt was such a jerk. And not even in a way I could write off as alpha. He demanded that everyone bow to his wishes even if they weren't in his pack...or werewolves at all. And he always did it in the most obnoxious manner possible. Sky was likable enough she had moments of sass but in between them she was bland. The stalker plot line was paced weird. The reveal can't out of nowhere and I don't see how you could've solved the mystery based on what we were given. The romantic development was nil and because the two of them clashed so much I couldn't see them together for anything other than hate sex. Apparently I'm doomed to a bad book streak to make up for my good book one

Great strong willed female and Big Bad Hot Alpha

Skye is very strong willed and independent even in the face of danger, a very deadly danger aimed at her and she is not about to let a Big Bad Alpha boss her around.

Wyatt is a Big Bad Alpha and he doesn't take anything from anyone and then along comes this little spitfire and she is not going to turn his well laid plans around. Or is she?

There is a very strong clash of wills, who will win?

Another great story by Gwen Knight.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another winner from Gwen Knight!

The dynamic between Skylar and Wyatt sparkles and is totally believable. The portrayal of the creepy villain is ratcheted up throughout the novel and adds an element of suspense that keeps the pace rapid.

The sexual tension between the two main characters is steamy and very well written. Crisp dialogue and humor run throughout the entire book.

Highly recommended!

I would rate this one about a 3.5. The story was solid overall; however, it had moments where it felt a bit disjointed. Definitely not enough to ruin the story but I would have enjoyed the story a bit more if it was tighter in those few spots. I would recommend it to a PNR lover looking for a new author.

I am a huge huge fan of this author's work and this book is no exception to that, if anything it made me love her writing even more!!!

Reading this story is an addictive experience, not only are you compelled to keep on turning the pages but as soon as you have finished you need to get the next book! This is a quality I have found that all of her books have, its a talent that she has in spades. In this story you read about issues that can be hard, but I really applaud the author for writing about these issues and how the people involves feel and how they cope on a daily basis. This makes it extremely easy to relate to it as its something that many people go through. It is such a thrilling adventure that keeps you hooked!!!

One of the things I adored about this book was Skyler, I loved how independent she is, how strong willed and how she has followed her dreams no matter what tradition decreed. Even through everything that life has thrown at her she still remains strong, even though she is afraid inside. Now we come to Wyatt who is how entry awesome to read about!!! From the moment he enters the story you want to know more about him. I love how strong and commanding he is as an Alpha who cares deeply about all his people, then you see the man that he is with Skyler, two very different parts of him but as a whole it makes you want to read about him more!!!

I can't recommend this book and this author enough, she truly is an amazing writer and once readers have sampled her work, like me they will be a fan for life!!!

Grrrrr! Not continuing this series

Wyatt...alpha male, dominant, protective, strong, leader and tough. Perfect! Absolutely perfect. Exactly what an alpha is. Sky...hypocrite, whiny, needy, rude feminist. I get so tired of female authors writing female lead characters to be everything Sky is when writing wolf shifter books. Why? Glad you asked. If I'm to believe an alpha for all general reason and purpose is strong, a protector, dominant, ruling, heartless when necessary and etc... then why write in characters that disrespect the role and the alpha? Why must Sky constantly try to put his manly parts in a lock box? Why write about the importance of true mate and then completely utterly destroy this core meaning because our dear female lead wants to be sassy.? I thought Wyatt was perfect but the author didn't even let him bash the sheriffs head in when it was deserved. All of the above and then some lost total credibility with me. Total ridiculous hypocrisy. Too bad too because the basic storyline was interesting. Lack in character quality, too much testosterone and brainlessness in Sky (not to mention blatant disrespect for the position of alpha) ruined it for me. Shame. I really hoped for a manly alpha wolfy read true to the werewolf shifter nature. This was NOT it.

Reach for the Sky

Wow. This book has everything. Murder, suspense, mystery, love and shifters. Sky has been stalked for a year and the local police haven't found out who it is. They have had 3 murders and didn't connect them until the 2nd murder. The 3rd murder is when they finally ask the local Alpha to inspect where the body was found and was still there waiting for the coroner. That is when they figure out it is a serial killer and a werewolf. Sky had left town on business and came back the night they found the last body and the sheriff told her to wait for a deputy to pick her up from the airport. Sky sees an available taxi and decides to head home. The taxi has a flat tire before they get there so she decides to walk the rest of the way. She realizes she is being followed and tries to loose them and decides to change into her wolf so she can run faster. She knows it is the stalker cause she recognized his smell. She thinks she gave him a slip and she sees a shadow and takes off running but this one catches her and she bites his arm. It isn't the stalker but the Alpha, Wyatt, and the excitement begins between the two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a fabulously story! I absolutely enjoyed reading it. For this to be my first time reading a book by Gwen Knight it's quite entertaining. I enjoy a story that has humor and excitement. They never fail to tug at my heartstrings by the end of the story and I'm always left with a happy, satisfied, and well entertained. And this story is no exception! This story features Skylar Callahan and Wyatt Turner. Skylar is a werewolf who decided to leave everything she cared most about to find her career. Wyatt is a sexy alpha who intends to claim her his Way. Both of these characters will keep everyone interested in their antics with their chemistry blazing hot. There isn't much I didn't enjoy about this story which makes me happy to read it. I highly recommend this book. Yes I will Absolutely read this author again! Murder mystery

This is more of a murder/mystery type book. There was a shifter romance but most of the book concentrated on the who done it part.
Sky is being stalked, has been for about a year. She informed the police but they had no progress. After the third death of women who looked like Sky, they brought in the Werewolf Alpha of the area. The victims were all missing eyes but the last one was cut up so they needed to know if it was a werewolf who was the serial killer.
Wyatt is the area alpha. I gets a scent at the scene and know that it is in fact a werewolf.
When he meets Sky, she doesn't behave like a normal submissive wolf would but he finds that he likes that. When he kisses her, he realizes she is his mate. Neither one wants the other to be their mate to start with.
Read the story and follow along with Wyatt and Sky as they discover who the stalker is. We also get to see them discover each other and things about themselves.

Werewolf Skylar Callahan has taken the step of ignoring her pack and family and instead has been working towards a career as a public advocate for werewolves and harbours political ambitions. However there is currently something dark in her life as a stalker s determined to claim her as his. Wyatt Turner is a hot Alpha who needs everything to be done to his satisfaction. Now his wolf has decided she is his intended mate and that he must protect her at all costs - even though she seems determined to keep him at arms length. Can he get close to her to keep her safe as well as win her over?

Wow - lots of danger, drama and intrigue in this fast moving story. As I would expect from this author, everything was well written, and I could feel and empathise with all thoughts, feelings and emotions. Definitely a great start to the series and a good taste of things to come.

Sky just wants to get home and get some rest before having to head back out for work again. However, someone has other plans for her. She doesn't need or want to deal with an over protective Alpha of a man like the one, she runs right into. Wyatt has a lot on his plate right now, with and doesn't know exactly what to think of Skylar. She frustrates him to no end, but at the same time, he can't walk away.
These two are so awesome together. She refuses to just cater to his demands. I love that she insists on holding her own with him. She is her own person and makes no excuses for who she is. There was some sadness, and I am waiting to see how that will play out over time. Can't wait to read the next book!

Rushed

This story felt so so rushed. It started at a gallop and continued into a full on sprint to the end.
There was no character building, no relationship building, just here's the female, here's the male, they mate, insert psycho killer who was really the most interesting part of the book but also wasn't really explored.
I think this book could definitely use with a rewrite and expansion. Build the characters. Explain the world. Even the mating seemed rushed with no insight into what lore this world followed - just a bite and that's all we know.
I forced myself to finish and I won't be continuing the series.

Uneventful Characters and Story

Warning: This review may contain spoilers.

I've been craving a really good "new" (haven't read before) paranormal / supernatural / urban fantasy series focusing on shifters. Unfortunately the first novel of the Wolfe Peak series never even got a mention. The plot failed to interest me, and felt very rushed. The characters felt very flat with no real depth to make them feel realistic or invest in.

This series is not for me, and won't be investing anymore time with. Novel failed to hold my attention from the first chapter.

This was my first book by Gwen Knight, and i'm so happy I read it! I've been looking for a good paranormal to read, since I have been reading mainly contemporary lately, and needed a boost to excite me to read more again. This book wasn't exactly perfect, which is why it is a star down, and it was in 3rd person, which I am not a fan of, but this author did a great job with it and I couldn't put this book down until I finished it all! I wish I had more of this couple as the MCs though instead of side characters, which I'm guessing they will be in the next one, but I also can't wait to start it!

Outstanding!!!

This book had me hooked from the first chapter. I was on the edge of my seat through the whole book trying to figure out who the bad guy was and if Wyatt and Sky would stop yelling at each other to realize that there was something between other than the bad guy after Sky.

This book had me laughing as crying as I rode the drama rollercoaster and I know you will want to know what happens to them in this story, so come along with me and discover if happiness can be found or not.

Until Next Time... Tabi

First time in reading this author but she enticed me by what promised was inside. I like also that I got to start at the beginning of this series. Skylar and Wyatt take you on this delicious journey because who can resist a yummy alpha. I like that what Skylar does makes for a change of pace in this genre with werewolves. The two together make for banter and explosives. Another element is the danger one that comes in the form of a creep that you would also like to dice and slice. They keep you intrigued up to the last page in this one.

An engaging deep story to love! This book has a great story with lots of dramatic depth. It is highly engaging and I had trouble putting it down. I loved Sky's independence and self direction. The whole stalker situation was intense and the connection to the serial killer was super creepy but still hard to put down. I totally did not see the plot twist coming. I loved reading this suspense filled story! I've had this book on my Kindle forever, and I'm glad that I finally got around to reading it!

This is my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. With so many shifter books out there today, it's hard to find one with an original and grabbing plot. But this book fits that bill. It's about Skylar a shifter werewolf who's being stalked by serial killer werewolf. It an action-packed edge of your chair suspense, with some romance too while Wyatt Turner another shifter lawman tries to protect her. Check it out for a great read. I can't wait to read more of Knight's books.

What isn't there to love?

I admit that I read "alpha male" and worry about reading an abusive jerk treating a weak woman like crap while she thanks him for it but that's not what you get here at all. Sure, Wyatt can be a dominatant a-hole but Sky is just as much an alpha in her own way and forces him to learn compromise and decency. Plus, Ms Knight has given us a male lead who isn't physically perfect which endears me to the book that much more.

The suspense nearly floored me. This tale of stalkers, alphas and fated mates kept me absolutely entranced till the very end. I liked that we get Sky, Wyatt, and the Baddie's POVs. Yet not until nearly the end do we even have a clue who the stalker is. And in between all of the action is the chemistry fueled angst between Sky and Wyatt. This book is not to be missed!

First book to a shifter romance filled with action. A lone wolf, she is being stalked by a killer who wants to make her his own. Love the sparks that fly when such a dominant female goes up against the alpha that can save her. Can't wait to start book two. A must read for any paranormal romance reader.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Having a Strong Female

I loved the fact that Skye was a strong female, she went to school and did everything she wasn’t “supposed” to, even working towards her doctorate. Having Wyatt be an alpha and still support her with her dreams and be someone who she could count on *fans myself* that’s what really gets me. Not to mention the steamy scenes, I couldn’t put the book down!
