Media Advisory: Media access moratorium at shelters

Based on current projections from the state, the City of Austin and Travis County do not anticipate mega shelter operations this evening. Any overnight intake of evacuees will take place at the existing shelters.
To provide for a comfortable environment for our guests, the Austin Independent School District is instituting a moratorium from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on media access to AISD property serving as shelters, including the Delco and Burger Centers, along with the parking lots.
This moratorium is in response to a joint request from the American Red Cross Serving Central Texas, Travis County and City of Austin.
The Convention Center is closed to media access. There are no planned media availabilities scheduled. There are no bus or shelter transports scheduled at any shelters or Austin Convention Center that will coincide with live shots for evening newscasters.
