Chad Yakobson, owner and director of brewing at Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project, has been appointed to the Brewers Association (BA) technical committee.

Yakobson earned a B.S. in Horticulture Science before going on to study Viticulture and Oenology in New Zealand. He then switched his focus to the brewing industry, concentrating on various micro-organisms present during barrel-aging of sour beer. In 2010 Yakobson completed his master’s thesis and was awarded a Master of Science in Brewing and Distilling from Heriot-Watt University and the International Centre for Brewing and Distilling in Edinburgh, Scotland. Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project opened in Denver, Colo. in 2011.

“My interest in serving the BA technical committee stems from my passion for brewing science and a commitment to furthering the knowledge and technical brewing experience among craft brewers,” said Yakobson. “Becoming a member of the committee allows me to have an active role in our industry.”

The BA technical committee, along with five standing subcommittees, addresses a wide range of industry issues including brewery safety, beer quality, raw materials and sustainability. Please contact Chuck Skypeck if you would like to contribute the technical committee’s body of work.
