Steve Biko Hospital runs out of steam

JOHANNESBURG - Steve Biko Academic Hospital has lost its steam.

Gauteng Health says steam-generating boilers at the facility have broken down.

Steam-dependent services at the hospital and nearby facilities are not functioning.

This includes air-conditioning, heating, cooking and refrigeration.

It's also impacted services at Tshwane District Hospital, Pretoria Oral and Dental Hospital and the Tshwane Rehabilitation Hospital.

One of the three boilers is expected to come back online in the next few days.
