‘I can't live without my son’: Mother's pain over losing murdered teen Dea-John Reid

THE mother of murdered teenager Dea-John Reid has said that she cannot live without her son.

Joan Morris paid an emotional tribute to her “lovely” boy after laying flowers on the corner where the 14-year-old was fatally stabbed in the Kingstanding area of Birmingham on Monday.

“I sent my son to go and play football and he didn’t come home,” she said on Thursday.

"He always gave me my medication, he made my tea, he gave me everything that I need.

“What am I supposed to do without him? I can’t live without my son. They took away my son’s life.”

Police believe that he was stabbed after being chased by a group of males along College Road at about 7.30pm on May 31.

The attack is believed to have taken place after an incident involving Dea-John and his friends in which they were subjected to racist abuse.

On Thursday evening, officers charged a man aged 38 and a boy of 14 with the schoolboy’s murder.

Earlier that day, a 35-year-old man was remanded in custody after appearing at Birmingham magistrates’ court.
