The Summer of UNlovin: the break-up season has started

Holidays to heal the heart by Pitchup.com

Every year when the summer gets warmer, the couples get fewer, or so it seems. Warm weather bears bad news for relationships with the Kardashian and Katona breakups hot off the press. Brits be wary if your name begins with K.

Everyone knows the outdoors and exercise escalates those endorphins with many experts recommending it as one of the top 10 ways to cure heartache*. With this in mind outdoor accommodation expert, Pitchup.com, offers its top tips to heal the heartache:

1. Pamper away the pain

With an on-site spa, golf course and champagne bar, Old Thorns Manor Hotel is spot on for a pampering stay. Take the mind off the heartache with a relaxing spa treatment followed by a walk in the grounds or even a relaxing game of golf.  End the day with a cocktail, champagne and dinner in the bar and restaurant and then relax back in the pod knowing that the accommodation starts from just £75 per night. The pods come with TVs, heating and kettles so if sleeping is a problem then drift off to a favourite TV show.

2. Escape from everyone

For some the best way to get over a breakup is hide away from the world and at Coed Phoenix Nature Reserve glampers can do just that. The site offers just one bell tent set within 12-acres of private nature reserve.  The peaceful pitch is on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains and enjoys no light pollution and just animals and insects for companions. The bell tent offers accommodation for two people and features a kitchen, toilet, woodburner with water heater, games and books.  There are no showers at the site. There is a minimum two-night stay starting from £156.

3. Party your way back to perky

If the only way to stop analysing the break up is to keep busy then take the mind off the relationship at Bude Holiday Resort in Cornwall.  Bude Holiday Resort is located in the popular town of Bude which has plenty to keep anyone entertained and if that is not enough the site itself offers nightly discos, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, bingo, amusement arcades and a bar/diner.  There is also a beach within walking distance.  The site has brand new camping pods available where for stays of three nights or more until September there are discounts of 20%, meaning a three-night break starts from just £260, down from £325. The pods are furnished and also feature a kitchen area and TV.

4. ‘Learn’ how to get over the break up

As well as enjoying the great outdoors and exercise, taking up a new hobby is also a recommended way to get over the breakdown of a relationship.  Old Mine House in Devon is set in a wildflower meadow within Dartmoor National Park gives a truly back-to-basics camping experience. The site offers a forest school with sessions for bushcraft, canoeing, tree climbing, yoga, massage, reflexology, martial arts, drumming and kickboxing (extra charges apply). Site facilities include a shower, a flushable toilet and a compost toilet. Accommodation ranges from non-electric camping pitches for guests who want to get back to nature or for guests who can’t take the all-out Bear Grylls experience, there is a log cabin and a bell tent to rent. Guests who don’t fancy cooking over the campfire can also have the luxury of cooked meals provided on request for an additional charge. Pitchup.com offers accommodation here from just £10 per night for two adults in a tent or glamping from £50 per night

5. Meet a new partner - go get naked!

If all else fails then get back out there and find a new partner and what better way to size up the perfect lover than at a naturist resort?  There are a few sites listed on Pitchup.com that offer this including Naturist Camp Costalunga in Italy.  The site is located in a peaceful and remote location where visitors can be at one with their surroundings. There is a swimming pool and solarium for guests’ use along with a bar, restaurant and regular evening entertainment, all providing ample opportunities to mingle with fellow guests.  There are holiday homes and pods available on site with prices starting from £39 per night.
