Suspect Arrested For One Home Invasion Now Charged In A Second

UPDATE: Police have charged 40-year-old Marcus Brown with a second home invasion involving an 81-year-old man.

According to reports, Brown broke into a home on Stockton Street on May 16th.  Officials say an 81-year-old man was beaten and robbed during the incident.

Police say a second suspect was also involved in that case, but has not yet been identified.

Brown now faces additional charges including 1st Degree Robbery, Armed Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Officials say Brown will officially be charged once he is released from the hospital.

STATESVILLE, NC — One man is in custody after being shot and then shooting an 80-year-old man during a break-in.

Police say Marcus Brown, 40, broke into the 80-year-old’s home on Buffalo Shoals Road around 11pm Wednesday and pulled him out of bed while demanding money. The victim grabbed a nearby gun and shot Brown, but police say the victim was then shot himself after Brown wrestled the gun away.

Investigators found Brown at a hospital in Concord where he was seeking treatment for his gunshot wound. Brown was charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Common Law Robbery, and Larceny of a Firearm.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
