The School of Toronto Dance Theatre

From our Artistic Director:

Looking back at the past year, we have a lot to celebrate! At our annual Gala evening, Gathering Momentum, following a wonderful performance of repertoire by all three years of our Professional Training Program, we announced the winners of our Kathryn Ash Awards. The exceptional Louis Laberge-Côté was presented with the Kathryn Ash Choreographic Commission for 2015-16, and will be creating a new work for our third year dancers in the coming year. This year’s Kathryn Ash Leadership Award was shared by graduating students Shakeil Rollock and Joshua Sailo, and the Kathryn Ash Scholarship was won by our gifted second year dancer, Mikaela Orford.

We are pleased to announce the appointments of Sharon B. Moore, Julia Sasso, and Darryl Tracy to the positions of Resident Choreographer. These three artists have been named in honour of their important creative contribution to the artistic life of the School and their deep and abiding dedication to their students.

I hope you will enjoy our summer newsletter offerings, and look forward to
re-connecting with you in the fall.

Have a wonderful summer!

CONGRATULATIONS to the
Class of 2015:

This group of twelve talented dancers graduated in May from our Professional Training Program. Less than 8 weeks later, and they are off to a flying start – quite literally for Andrew Swan who will be performing (alongside other School students/grads) at PANAMANIA. Also at the Pan Am Games you’ll be able to see Shakeil Rollock, Joshua Sailo, and Hayley Stoddart, dancing with TDT in the opening ceremony

We wish you the best of luck in your future adventures!

A day in the life of...
TFO: watch the video now Earlier this year we had a visit from the French television station, TFO. They spent the day with our first year PTP students, and filmed in and around the School.

The final product was a short film, a "day in the life of...", showing what a typical day looks like for our PTP students here at the School.
