HSINCHU, Taiwan — Analog Devices (ADI) designs and manufactures semiconductor products and solutions in an attempt to celebrate its 50th anniversary in Taiwan this year, and to commend the special occasion, the company held a “The Design Trends for Healthcare Wearables” press conference on July 2 in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The company said that healthcare wearables are becoming more discreet, with more user-centric designs and highly integrated functions.

“Vital signs monitoring is the basis of healthcare wearables,” said Sheng Wang, ADI’s Segment Marketing Manager of Asia Healthcare, “Where heart rate/ECG, blood pressure, SpO2, activity, BMI, temperature and respiration are being monitored, respectively.”

“On the other hand, environmental sensing plays an important role in healthcare wearables at the same time. For instance, vitamin D, UVI, pollution and even driver assistance, etc are influential preventative factors.” claimed Sheng Wang.

However, these two categories of signs monitoring can be precisely monitored by ADI’s sensors. Namely, ADI Temperature, ADI Impedance, ADI Optical, ADI MEMs. As well as ADI optical ADPD103, ADI Electrical AD8232 and ADI Impedance AduCM350 are made for analog signal processing, whereas ADI Blackfin and ADI AduCM Cortex are designed for digital signal processing/control, while ADI ADF7xxx is a wireless comms.

Furthermore, Sheng Wang forecast that one of the unmistakable trends is healthcare wearables will be cheaper and cheaper, or even free of charge after forming the ecosystem, in other words, to integrate with hospitals, insurance companies and healthcare centers in the near future.
