2. What is a Paragraph?
A paragraph is a collection of sentences that are
focused on the same topic. We organize our work
into small blocks of information because they are
much easier to understand, compared to one large
block.
When writing an essay, we use paragraphs to
organize our ideas around the thesis. The most
common essay style is the five-paragraph essay.

Supporting Paragraph 3
Conclusion
The introduction is the
road map of your essay.
Here you introduce your
topic, supporting
arguments, and thesis.
Supporting paragraphs are
separate topics that
support your thesis.
Each supporting argument
should have evidence
supporting the subtopic
and a concluding sentence
that ties back to the thesis.
The conclusion reiterates
your thesis and reinforces
your supporting arguments.
4. Sounds easy
enough, right?
That's because it is! Writing a
paragraph is simple:
Make sure it is focused on a
specific topic that supports
your thesis.
Use transition words.
Avoid repetition.
5. Stay Focused
Keep your paragraph
focused on the topic. This
will keep the reader from
getting confused.
Avoid unnecessarily
long sentences and
off-topic interjections.
