DAVISON TWP, MI -- Nearly 24 hours after her 9-year-old son went missing, Khisha Humphrey remains hopeful Omarion will be found with the overwhelming show of support by volunteers from the community at large.
Humphrey, from Pontiac, said Omarion was at the lake Saturday, July 4, with his foster family when he went missing from Lake Callis Recreation Complex along North Gale Road.
She drove up Saturday evening after learning of the news, with her first thought of "Where's my son? Where could he be?"
Omarion has at times hid in the backyard or a cabinet at home, but "He never runs off and it's cold and it's dark (last night). That's what I was worried about."
Hundreds of volunteers, carrying flashlights Saturday night into Sunday morning, and many equipped with walking sticks July 5 have kept a constant search for Omarion, standing 4-feet-tall, weighing 70 pounds and last seen wearing no shirt, no shoes and a pair of black shorts with a red stripe.
Multiple search and rescue teams from Genesee County, Shiawassee County, Kent County, Midland County, Michigan Department of Corrections and dozens of community members have scoured the acres at the park, used dogs along creeks, knocked on doors in surrounding neighborhoods and looked in ponds close by but to no avail so far.
"That's not natural for him," said Humphrey of her son's disappearance, thinking after he went missing Saturday night "He's probably cold, he's probably hungry and he doesn't know where he's at."
Humphrey said she will stand watch all night because "I'm just so scared to leave here, because what if he comes back?"
She thanked the volunteers for their help in the search for Omarion, who enjoys Eminem, computers, Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake and video games
"They came up and gave me hugs and they just helped me so much," Humphrey said.
