I give ALL of the stars to this adorable short story.
Mimi is a phenomenal character - I can't stress this enough.
Her personality made this book so incredibly entertaining.
I recommend this story to everyone who loves to read the POV of a strong, smart female lead.
There are female characters that are quirky and make us laugh...
Female MCs who you respect - They're clever and confident...

And honestly, this chick Harper Miller must’ve drugged me, hooked sensors to my brain and stolen my life story-only I’m not an attorney. This story is a delicious quickie about an upwardly mobile sista who is having a serious dick drought. And sadly, I can relate...*snort*

Ironic is a short story and one of the rare few that didn't leave me disappointed at the end. In Ironic author Harper Miller introduces the reader to Michelle "Mimi" Montgomery. Mimi is the junior partner at a law firm. She's attractive, confident, and enjoys the kinkier side of sex. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to seek what she needs. She's just won a major case and now is ready for a little male enjoyment so she signs on to a website for people who enjoy more flavorful sexual encounters. Here she meets a dominant and oh-so-sexy man named Aden. Ironic is about the two meeting, from the initial online encounter to the physical one.
I loved this book for what it was. And what it was was funny, sexy, and refreshing. Mimi isn't wishy-washy, coy, or afraid to be who she is. She isn't discovering herself sexually nor does she need Aden to introduce her to her "hidden" or true sexual self and desires. Nope. She's already aware of what she wants and she goes for it. Aden is appropriately sexy and drool worthy. As is expected, he too knows what his sexual needs are and isn't afraid to fulfill them.
And then there is the ending...! Big applause to you Harper Miller. It ended perfectly. Although a part of me wants this story to continue, another part likes the idea of leaving it as is. I'm interested to see what the author intends to do.
My Final Thoughts: This is a great short read that's unapologetic in its steaminess. It's also funny and I found myself laughing at some of the things that Mimi says. Relatable humor can be hard for some authors to pull off but this author did a great job. I was impressed by the author's first book The Sweetest Taboo and I have to say her work has only gotten better. I'm giving Ironic a 5 out of 5 rating and recommending it to anyone who enjoys an erotic romp with two consenting adults who just so happen to like their love makin' a lil' more spicy than vanilla.
It's worth noting that this isn't extremely hardcore by any means.

A nice one-shot story with the sexy woman and the even sexier man. Mimi and Aden, as happens in such stories, are explosive together. But there is a character depth to them that extends beyond the "kinky" nature of their first meet and greet that the reader is given a small glimpse into. The epilogue was a cool and unexpected touch that shifted the dynamics of the short story into the realm of "romance."

For such a short story this book has a great storyline .
One of my pet hates is being told how I'm gonna feel about a story and they get it all wrong. In the synopsis of this book your told it's funny and it's a comedy. Hell yes. Totally agree.
Mimi is a fabulous character. She says what she thinks and holds nothing back. Aiden mmmm he's yummy. I'd definitely wanna see him again.
Yes of course I'd have loved to read more about these two. However the author didn't leave me hanging or ready to throw my kindle. Great naughty quickie:)

IRONIC by Harper Miller provides full on take you there sexiness. Miller takes her reader hard and fast straight to the erotic steaminess of the story. Mimi is a young professional who is definitely a self-confident take it or leave it kind of woman. This short story contains a bit of wicked humor along with no holds barred erotic scenes with a touch of kink. This isn't a romance, it is the story of two adults coming together who know exactly what they want from each other. There's no long drawn out courtship with dangers and obstacles. Neither Mimi nor Aden are looking for a relationship that will include long term attachments or commitments right away. At least not at this point in the tale. If you are looking for a quick fix erotic tale this quick read will not disappoint.

4.5 Stars! This was a hot little read! Short, yes, but the characters were well developed and the story interesting! For an added bonus, you can go to Harper Miller's website for a kickass epilogue! Throughly enjoyable!

I received this short story as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. I literally read the entire thing over my lunch break. It's quick reading filled with lots of kinky, well written sex. Having said that, I also have to say that it doesn't cross that line into the porn category. There IS a plot, and it's a damn good one. There's also a good dose of humor thrown in that had me laughing out loud at my phone I was reading on.
Mimi is an attractive single woman who enjoys sex, with no complicated relationship involved. She refers to her hook-ups as "emergency dick", which I love. Everyone needs some "emergency dick" every now and then, am I right?
One night she gets on a singles kinky dating site to see if she can find someone. She needs to get laid, and she needs it NOW. She talks online to a sexy guy named Aden and after sharing an exceedingly interesting webcam experience they decide to meet the next night at a bar.
They are both looking forward to the 'date' because they seem to be perfectly compatible. Mimi likes some rough sex and Aden likes to dominate in the bedroom. To top it off he's a really good and decent guy. He's an impressive flirt and he knows how to talk dirty magnificently. Which we all know is the most important attribute of a man, if they don't have a filthy mouth they can get lost.
Amazon wouldn't post this review if I told you all about their rendezvous, so just trust me and read it yourself. The 'carnal relations' are scorching and completely turned me on, I'm not embarrassed to say. Harper Miller is a goddess of writing sex scenes. Period.
There is a free epilogue offered at the end that finishes the story of Mimi and Aden. The ending is sublime perfection. I wasn't disappointed and you won't be either.

Fun, sexy, hilarious. Hot damn! I pretty much loved everything about Ironic. The characters, the sex, the humor. The one night stand and some surprises. Harper Miller rocked this short story hard and left me totally smitten.
The quick of it is that Mimi finally has some free time after work's kept her crazy busy and she's....got some needs. A little browsing on a kink meet-up site and she's ready to get those met with one luscious specimen of a man and his very impressive cock.
These two were fantastic. Mimi and Aden are both older-- 35 to 42--which, hello, I seriously LOVE. They're hot and adventurous and a spot kinky--though not too much. They know what they want and aren't afraid to take it.
It was so fun watching them meet and flirt online then meet up for a night of hard and dirty sex. And *noms* All that sex was make-a-girl-fan-herself good. The humor was fantastic and a little cheeky and kept me smiling.

You know how you read something and you just can see someone you know in the story? You just think to yourself that’s so and so because it so funny and spot on? If you know anyone who has tried internet dating and just a single girl going through dating woes this story is laugh out loud funny. I felt like this story was a mix of the shows: Sex and the City, Girlfriends and Catfish.
Mimi is a lawyer who is powerful in her own right but every now and then she gets an itch that needs to be scratched that doesn’t include b.o.b. (battery operated boyfriend). With a fetish for kink it’s hard in her profession to keep her anonymity so she does what many women do online date. Now I have tried online dating and let me tell you Mimi is something else. When she sees something she likes she doesn’t hold back. I know some readers are turned off by the whole sub/dom relationship let me just say although Mimi is a sub she is no one’s pushover. This girl is what my grandmother would call fast or being manish. But really who can blame her when the man looking back at you on the computer screen is anything less than a dream.
Aden talk about a wet dream!!! He is a man who doesn’t beat around the bush. He meets Mimi on this online website and instantly they both are attracted to each other. The banter between the two is epic. I honestly could see a lot of my friends talking like this. What’s so great about this story is that it’s so real and honest. But this isn’t a sappy love story these two enjoy some kink and pushing each other buttons. This was supposed to be a one night stand fake names were added but what happens when it’s just so good you want more?
One of the issues I had with this story is that it was short. And I know it’s a disclaimer that this is a short read but I would like to petition the author to make this a full length novel. Some of the acronyms for the bdsm lifestyle I had to look-up I would have liked for a definition of terms to be added in the book. I had very few issues with this book and would suggest if you are looking for a short read to pass the time that is enjoyable and well edited then one-click this book. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Short stories tend to make me grumpy. Because juuuuust when I’m getting into all the juicy nitty-gritty, they go and end.
But this? This was lots of fun. It was hot, sharp, sassy, and on point. All that wrapped up in a tasty morsel of a story that packs in all the parts, including surprises? I’m sold.
I can’t say it didn’t leave me wanting more. It sure as fuck did…because it was just that good and I wasn’t ready to say goodbye by a long shot. But it’s a whole story, all you need to know, and all you need to get hot-n-bothered in just a few pages.
Mimi is hot, and she knows it…but not in a bitchy stuck-up princess way. She’s a smart, sexy, professional woman who knows her worth and who she is. And she’s holding out for the MR of Mr. Rights, not a man she needs…one she wants. She’s sex-starved and horny as hell because work is a cruel mistress…don’t I know it. For now, she’s just gonna find a Mr. to who’s fun for a fuck — a one-night, unforgettable all-night pounding. Nothin’ wrong with that, ladies.
I’ll tell ya what else, I admire the HELL out of any woman who’s got the kind of unapologetic confidence of this heroine. That shit takes work, and it takes one hell of a man to be worthy and able to hold his own.

When Harper Miller first shared the news that she was going to focus of some erotic shorts, I knew this would be a good thing. I am one of those people who loves short stories. Reading short stories is what first sparked my love of writing. But I digress--I should be telling you about Ironic. Don't be put off by the fact that this is a short story. Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, a short story is not supposed to be 40-50K. Most short stories are around 10K at most. Just so you know. This is a super sexy story that you can read during your lunch break or your morning commute. It could even be your bedtime story if you're so inclined. And it's such an engaging story--you'll love the repartee between Mimi and Aden, you'll probably get hot and bothered as you find out about their hook-up and...of course, Harper leaves you wanting more. Mimi has been in a bit of a dry spell, and her sexual appetite just isn’t happy about that. She creates a profile on a kinky website and meets sexy, dominant Aden. Aden is older and knows exactly what he’s looking for in an intimate encounter. After a steamy video chat, Mimi and Aden agree to meet up the following night for one night of mind-blowing kink. But one night is all Mimi offers. She doesn’t do do-overs.
Ironic is a steamy short story, so be sure to read it alone or have your special someone nearby. It’s a very quick read that will leave you panting for more. I loved that both characters were confident and not at all interested in hiding what they were after. They found each other on a kinky website, so why be shy? Aden definitely has a dominant personality that comes through in the way he interacts with Mimi. Mimi, whose profile lists her as submissive, was a bit more forward than I expected when speaking to someone she wanted to dominate her, although she made no secret of the fact that she wouldn’t mind a little punishment.
The only drawback of this story is that it’s too short to really get into a lot of kink. It’s more of a “wham, bam, thank you, ma’am” story. But you won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for some heat! I enjoyed this short and would definitely read more from Harper Miller.

Ironic is a short story that definitely did not disappoint. Throughout this story, Harper Miller, introduces the readers to Michelle Montgomery, also known as Mimi. Mimi is a hard working woman who spends most of her time labouring away in a law firm. After a long week at work, Mimi wants to let loose and have a little fun. She enjoys "kinky" sex that not many people know about. To find what she is looking for, she searches a website. On this website, she meets Aden, her soon to be dominant. The story tells the meeting of them for the first time.
I loved this book. It is definitely short and sexy; however, it is also funny and unique. I felt that the characters were well developed and the plot line descriptive. I loved the idea of having the final chapter on the website in which they met. I have never read a book with that twist at the end before and I felt it to be a very creative idea.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a short, sexy read.

Harper has done it again. Within a short amount of pages, Harper has me chuckling at Mimi and loving Aden. The two met when Mimi was searching for some...um, you'll have to read the novel. But, just know what she went searching for, she definitely found in Aden. The chemistry is off the charts. Even though it's a short, I was invested in Mimi and Aden, and wanted the best for them. Loved every single thing about this short, and can't want for book two in the series.

HOT DAMN! Nothing like starting and finishing a story in 45 minutes! Quick & hot as hell short story! I always love a strong willed woman lead...who in this case is a lawyer, with one hell of a kinky side.

Ironic is a short story that packs a punch. Can't wait to read more about Mimi and Aden. This is a funny, clever and oh so sexy read. Harper Miller has done it again. Mimi is all sass and Aden is all sexy! I would highly recommend this book.

Well... what can I say? I say this is smokin' hot. Great Short story told from h, Mimi's POV.
Shes a stressed attorney that needs a new and exciting diversion of the sexual nature.
I won't spill too much. The story moves fast. Great writing. Not a wasted word. The dialogue is snappy and no mundane details. There's a little description of the H & h in the physical sense. Neither is... uhh lacking. The opening scene is definitely NSFW. I'm not kiddin'
I would place Mimi in my kick ass heroine category. There's no violence at all. I'm referring to Mimi's attitude and persona.
Aden is a little more of an unknown. Mimi is taking a big risk. The one night stand is all that is intended. There's a lot of chemistry-sexually speaking since they don't know each other.
They do get to "know" each other. Adventurous and compatible is putting it mildly. Very hot encounter. Again, no wasted words. Indeed.
This is 33 pages, so I wasn't expecting an epilogue. I loved the last scene of the story. Ha
Yeah, nosy, curious me wanted to know more. There's a link at the end that takes you to the authors website, to find out what happens next. Of course I read that. It's in Aden's POV. Hey, it's an epilogue.
I would have rated this great short story higher if the epilogue ("what happens next") was tacked on.

Super refreshing to read a strong black woman heroine who knows what she wants and goes after it. Mimi is a successful lawyer who needs some sexual attention and seeks it out through an app, where she finds Ayden. She likes super dominant men, and one of the great elements of this story is the negotiation around safety and boundaries. Tbh this short story had some extreme scenes of dominance that were maybe over my comfort line to read! But the story does have a twist at the end (perhaps an ironic one, haha??) that makes it easy to want to read on. As long as alpha male dominance is your kink, I recommend it.

Holy hot tamale, this short, steamy story was freaking awesome! Not only was Mimi the perfect strong, smart career woman but she was hilarious. Her inner dialogue made me laugh so many times--I think my cat jumped at one particularly loud yelp! Her spicy shenanigans with super-sexy Aden were kinky yet quite tender at points. The twist at the end was perfect and all I can say is, I want more! This was my first Harper Miller story but definitely not my last. Snatch this one up fast!

Ironic is a short story about a single hard working woman who was just out looking for a little fun. It had been way too long since Mimi allowed herself to let loose and enjoy a good roll in the sack with a hunky man. One lonely night after an exceptionally difficult work week she goes on the website kinkysinglesconnect.com never expecting to find exactly what she had been looking for. Aden is just what the doctor ordered to cure Mimi's sad excuse for a sex life. Aden is gorgeous and more than willing to fulfill every one of Mimi's desires as well as some of his own.
Mimi is a great female character, smart and confident in herself and her sexuality, it was so very refreshing. Aden is a man with a few kinks he never thought he would find a woman who could share them. All of the women he was hooking up with was to just scratch an itch. He never thought he would want to know more about any woman past a sexual encounter. Mimi changes all that for him, but he has to convince her that it's worth taking a risk.
I was so surprised by this short story, I started reading it not really expecting much. Usually short stories are good for a quick read and I finish thinking that was nice. Ironic is so much more than nice, it's hot, sexy, erotic and just plain fun to read. I laughed out loud a few times as a matter of fact, the lighthearted comedy of Ironic was so different I really enjoyed it. There is no cliffhanger for this short story. The author offers an epilogue at the end of Ironic, but you must go to the website with the access code to find out what happens to Mimi and Aden. This is a must read, you will really enjoy this book. The ending will make you smile and realize that sometimes what you thought was just a little fun can turn into something so much bigger and more than you ever could have expected.
It's also part of a collection of short stories The Kinky Chronicles each about a different couple. I highly recommend for a sexy quickie you won't be disappointed.

I saw the blurb for the book and I knew I just had to snap it up. Best decision EVER!
Mimi is smart, funny, seductive, and secure in herself. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Period. No apologies. She is the kind of woman that makes men take notice. Again and again. And Aden, smart man that he is, does. Aden is just as smart, funny, dominating, hot-as-fuck, and a perfect gentleman.
The interactions between Mimi and Aden, even before they have sex, was funny and engaging. Both characters were witty and that's always fun to read in books. If at all, their interactions and conversations are what made me love this book very much. There was sex (duh!) in the book, but I loved that it flowed naturally and wasn't forced. I loved that it added to the story and didn't detract from it. It goes without saying that it was hot as hell ;)
While reading this book, even though it was about the two characters meeting and wanting to have sex, I loved that Ms Miller included practical aspects; she didn't just get on with it. Aden was very concerned about Mimi's safety and made sure she took steps to ensure it. This is clearly missing in most erotic stories and I'm glad there are some practical tidbits for women who may be just like Mimi.
Now, I know we were warned about the brevity of the book, but I was still disappointed when I got to the end because I wanted it to go on and on. And even though the author said there were no cliffhangers, the end of the book felt like one to me. Although, to be honest, it was probably my wanting more of the story that made me feel that way. Luckily for me though, the author provided a link to an epilogue which wrapped the story up in a nice little bow for me.
Simply put, this book was amazing. I loved escaping into Mimi and Aden's world for a bit and I'm doubly glad there's more to come with this series.

This is my second Harper Miller fiction, and as erotica goes, I quite enjoy it. Her writing style flows nicely. As I've said in the past, it's hard to find well written and believable erotica. I'm actually interested in what happens to these characters. I supposed I'm adding this to the characters I hope I see again in her works. When I review anything I try to add the 'dislikes' in my initial review but I don't really have any besides that it isn't longer. This and 'The Sweetest Taboo' have earned a Harper Miller a new fan!
