— -- Kelly Clarkson is famous for her powerful voice, but she says it's not particularly distinctive.

Case in point: Her eight-year-old stepson isn't always sure when a song is hers.

"For example, Pink came on the radio the other day and my eight-year-old [step]son said, ‘Oh my God , I love this song of yours! You have to do this one live!’" she told Britain's Official Charts Company. "I’m no U2 or Annie Lennox - or Sia!"

Clarkson, 33, instead classifies herself as a "chameleon," who's able to try out many different types of musical genres. Her style, she added, isn't "100 percent definable as a single thing."

"I totally think all the time about switching it up. The difficult thing with me is that I love everything...I love my R&B music, big band… I’m really struggling with what direction I should go in for the next record," she explained.

Noting that her next album after her current one, Piece by Piece, is "the first that’s out of my original 'American Idol' contract," Clarkson said it's time to try something new.

"Basically, there are too many options," she said. " I’ve thought a lot about doing a dance record as well. I’m sure I’ll do them all at some point -- I’m just excited to now have the freedom to do whatever I want."
