"Velodrome..and I said it without stuttering," said Brandon Perkins, who will be happy to help you learn how to pronounce what he's hoping will be the next chapter of Tulsa's cycling.
"What I look for is to be able to have a velodrome and some of these kind of assets to bring people in because I do believe that Tulsa has something special and when people come here, they get a taste of it, they fall in love with Tulsa," he said.
Funding would come from next Vision package, for which city leaders are currently soliciting ideas.
"I'm all about a velodrome, that's great, its fun," said Adam Vanderburg, of Lee's bicycles, excited about the possibility.
"The idea of maybe having a velodrome in the city of Tulsa would be a great resource for the cycling community for youth programs," he said.
Economically, it's estimated Tulsa Tough alone brought in $3 million for the city. A velodrome, says Brandon, could boost that economy as the city's national cycling profile would be kicked into a higher gear, with a facility that's normally only associated with the Olympics.
"This isn't an Olympic idea, this is for cycling, for the good of Tulsa, an investment in our community," he said.
