Naxos Beaches Part 1: Discover the best beaches of Naxos island!

After taking you for a long stroll in the villages of Naxos today we are going around the best beaches of Naxos; Blue Flag award winning beaches, golden sandy beaches and others with sightseeing and wild beauty; fully organized and peaceful for those who seek for peacefulness and tranquillity! Are you ready for the ultimate summer tour in Naxos Island? We divided the beaches according to their location on the island. Today we are taking a closer look to the beaches close to Chora, meaning close to the Lagos Mare Boutique Hotel!

Beaches close to Chora of Naxos

Agios Georgios Beach: Between the capital of Naxos and the Lagos Mare Boutique Hotel in Agios Prokopios is the EU Blue Flag awarded beach of Agios Georgios. This is a perfectly organized beach with sunbeds and umbrellas, restaurants and cafes plus facilities for water sports. The beach attracts all people of all ages as well as families whereas at the north side of the beach, the surfers find the best spot to enjoy their favourite sport.

Vinji & Grotta Beaches: On the north side of the Chora of Naxos, are located the small and serene beach of Vinji and the beach of Grotta. This small bay has pebbles and a piece with sand and lovely views to the landmark of Naxos, the Portara. In the same area of Grotta, a Mycenaean city was built and the ruins are still there to see them.

Of course we must start with Agios Prokopios, one of the most famous beaches of Naxos, where Lagos Mare Boutique Hotel is built, but we have already talked extensively about this beach at (https://www.lagosmare.gr/news-deal/), so we will now move on to the next beach.

Agia Anna Beach: This is the natural continuity of Agios Prokopios and yet another famous beach of Naxos. Golden sand, crystal clear waters, cedars and a little fisherman’s harbour are consisting the setting of Agia Anna beach that is fully organized and offers also choices for water sports.

Plaka Beach: Moving on and next to Agia Anna is the once hippies’ favourite beach of Naxos. The beach of Plaka is a sandy beach with beach bars, cafes and taverns and remains always one of Naxos’ most beautiful beaches while being really close to Lagos Mare Boutique Hotel!

Mikri Vigla Beach: Now it is time for swimming with sightseeing. Mikri Vigla was an observatory during the Venetian era and today a rock divides this beach to two pieces creating the beach of Partheno and Limanaki.

Tip: Close to Mikri Vigla are the continuous small bays of Orkos are the best choice for those who want to swim with privacy.

Glyfada Beach: This is a huge sandy beach with cedars to relax under the shadows and enjoy swimming in the shallow waters. It attracts all sorts of visitors while ideal for fishing, water sports or just relaxing.

Kastraki Beach: Next to Glyfada is the little bay of Kastraki that is organized with sun loungers and umbrellas. Visitors with small boats find here a place to dock. The beach now is sandy with crystal clear waters.

Pyrgaki Beach: Another big, sandy beach with cedars in the southwest part of Naxos. Ideal for relaxation as you are gazing at the blue sea and the island of Ios.

Agiassos Beach: We are now moving more to the north to visit the serene paradise of Agiassos beach. For tranquillity lovers, this pristine beach of Naxos is ideal for those who seek for a closer connection with Naxos’s nature and prefer a calmer day under the sun. You will find some taverns on the beach.
