Fully grown crocodile spotted on Morjim beach; pic goes viral, Goa forest department confirms

The Goa forest department has confirmed that a fully grown crocodile had been sighted on Morjim beach on Thursday. The two images of the crocodile have gone viral on social media. One picture shows the crocodile flat on the beach similar to the way they are shown in animal life documentaries but the second image (shown below) has the crocodile during what is called a ‘high walk’.

The Morjim Beach page has uploaded two pictures while Nilesh Bagkar, a resident of Morjim has uploaded four pictures of the beautiful creature on his Facebook page. Morjim is a very popular beach and the presence of such a vicious predator might harm tourism but the Goa forest department has announced that the tracking of the crocodile and the reason for it to come ashore are being looked into. The photos also show a couple of stray dogs barking at the crocodile as it walks towards the ocean. The Goa forest department believes that the crocodile must have come from the Chapora River. A crocodile on a beach in Goa is not a common occurrence and tourists will have to e on the lookout if the event happens again.
