From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shayla Black comes a new story in her More Than Words series…

Can I keep the gorgeous, gun-shy single mother safe—and prove I’m the man for her?

I’m Tanner Kirk—Certified firearms instructor and mixed martial arts enthusiast. When I filed for divorce at the end of an empty marriage, all I wanted was a vacation in paradise, not another woman in my life. But how can I possibly say no to Amanda Lund, a young single mom desperate to learn self-defense? Or refuse the banked desire on the guarded beauty’s face?

I can’t.

So I seduce Mandy until we’re burning up the sheets…and soon find my heart entangled with her bruised and battered one. But when a nemesis from her past tries to destroy our future by unearthing my secret, will she understand and forgive me—or give up on us forever?

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

The story is fast-paced and passionate with great chemistry and likeable characters. Who doesn’t love a good bodyguard story, amirite? Honestly, there’s not much more to tell you.

I have yet to meet a Shayla Black book I did not like. This is no exception. However, even tho the story, as is, is satisfying, I can’t help but still have this nagging twitch that it would have been just as good and/or better had we had Mandy’s past fleshed out a bit more and turned this into a full-length novel. I also think it would have wow’d me even more if it didn’t have such an insta vibe. I know, I know, I’m not a writer LOL that’s why I said I liked it as is but maaaaaaaaaaybe *shrug* do with that information what you will :)

MORE THAN PROTECT YOU is a novella in the MORE THAN WORDS series by Shayla Black, this series revolves around the Reed family and is best read in order of release. The addition of the 1,001 DARK NIGHTS novellas gives new readers a great way to jump in and see what all the fun is about, while giving lovers of the series additional couples that may not have otherwise gotten their own stories.

When Tanner and Amanda meet for the first time it's as if they are both electrified because the chemistry is so intense there is no backing away from it. This is an insta-love story at it's finest, we have likable characters, awesome chemistry, and a suspenseful story to keep us wondering whodunit? while needing a bottle of water to cool off.

More Than Protect You is book 6.5 in the More Than Words Series by Shayla Black.
This is the story of Amanda (Mandy) Lund and Tanner Kirk.
Theirs is an insta-love story. We got a hint of their story at the end of More Than Dare You. Tanner was the bodyguard who was burned by his ex-wife and is sent to protect Amanda- innocent, and sweet young woman, and her baby son from threats because of her ex- boyfriend. That’s how they they met. The novella has so much written in such a short read. I enjoyed reading about Tanner, the alpha bodyguard and Mandy, the young woman who just wants to be loved for who she is. But Tanner is holding something back from her. Secrets- it's a relationship killer. Does he tell her his secrets or does she end up finding out on her own? This story has the angst, drama, passion, romance, heat, feels, secrets, lies, twists, and HEA. You need to read this book!

My Rating: 4.5 stars *******

Another winner from Author Shayla Black! I love the More Than Words series, it is one of my favourites by this author. This was a quick read, but it lacked for nothing. Tanner and Amanda's story was full of romance, passion, steam and a little bit of suspense.

Amanda hires Tanner to protect her and her son after being threatened by an unknown source.
When these two meet, you just know they are meant to be, it's an instant attraction, but Tanner is taken back by his sudden feelings for this woman. Will he be able to keep it professional with Amanda? Will he be able to protect her and her son?

I adored these two so much! They were so perfect together! I love how Ms. Black still manages to slip in just the right amount of suspense and passion, even with this novella!

Highly recommend giving this book a read. It is standalone, however, you do see old faces from previous books, which made it even better!

5 Stars!

More Than Protect You is an enjoyable novella in the More Than Words series, one that works fine as a standalone but answers those with lingering questions from the prior book. After loving More Than Dare You, I was eager to see what this one offered.

Although I enjoyed More Than Protect You, this was a bit too close to instalove for my liking. I much prefer slow development, and things happened extremely quickly in this one. In truth, this rating is more of a three-point-five-star read. There were some four-star moments, but personal preference had me wanting a bit more. For those that are fine with quick love stories, this had enough to keep the readers hooked.

All in all, an enjoyable quick read from Shayla Black and worth reading for fans of the series.

I seriously love the stories that Shayla Black writes. Tanner is hired to protect Amanda and her son. Even though he doesn't do "love" anymore, he can't help but fall for her. Of course, there are secrets and drama going on and Tanner is going to have to prove to Amanda that he really does love her. I read this story in one setting and will probably read it again. This is one of my favorite series and it fits perfectly into the More than Words world!!

MORE THAN PROTECT YOU is instalment 6.5 in Shayla Black’s contemporary, adult MORE THAN WORDS erotic, romance series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is thirty-nine year old, certified firearms instructor and mixed martial arts enthusiast Tanner Kirk, and single mother/ PA Amanda Lund’s story line. MORE THAN PROTECT YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of MORE THAN PROTECT YOU cross over with the events and timeline of More Than Dare You #6.

SOME BACKGROUND: Throughout the years billionaire investor Barclay Reed fathered several illegitimate children with at least four women, but his latest scheme was to swindle dozens of people in an elaborate Ponzi scheme leaving them high and dry in the wake of his death. MORE THAN WORDS focuses on his children, and the people whose life he destroyed.

Told from first person perspective (Tanner Kirk) with a final chapter from Amanda, MORE THAN PROTECT YOU follows in the aftermath of an attack against our story line heroine. Amanda Lund came from a well to do family but found herself looking for a daddy figure and discovered it with her father’s friend Barclay Reed. Now a single mother of a one-year old child whose father swindled billions of dollars from unsuspecting investors Amanda finds herself a target of an unknown assailant and has fled to Hawaii in an effort to get to know her son’s extended family. To everyone’s surprise, trouble has followed Amanda to Maui, and she is in desperate need of personal protection. Enter certified firearms instructor and mixed martial arts enthusiast Tanner Kirk, a man who has just arrived in Hawaii looking for a brand new start. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Tanner and Amanda, and the potential fall-out as issues of trust push Tanner out of Amanda’s life.

The relationship between Tanner and Amanda begins as an assignment but quickly turns into something more. Tanner is in the process of divorcing his wife of ten years, and Amanda is struggling to move on from the past. When Tanner and Amanda set up house, their attraction deepens, the sexual chemistry is hot but issues of trust are about to tear them apart. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is as large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many of the Reed siblings: Griffin Reed (More Than Need You #2), Noah Weston and Harlow Reed (More Than Love You 3), Evan Cook and Nia Wright (More Than Crave You #4), Amanda’s brother Stephen Lund (More Than Pleasure You #5.5) Trace Weston and Macey (More Than Dare You #6), as well as Amanda and Steven’s father Douglas Lund, and investor Bruce Barrett.

MORE THAN PROTECT YOU is a story of family and relationships; betrayal and trust; desperation, power, money and control. The premise is engaging ; the romance is tender and seductive; the characters are energetic and edgy.

More Than Protect You by Shayla Black is book 6.5 in the More Than Words Series. This is the story of Amanda 'Mandy' Lund and Tanner Kirk. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one, but I do feel you can make it a standalone book. Mandy is in need of protection and wanting to learn how to defend herself. This young mother has been through it and isn't looking for anything more. Tanner is getting over a divorce and wanting to start fresh. This leads him to somewhere different and wanting to start a new business. Tanner is a firearms instructor along with know martial arts so when he is asked to help Amanda he ends up doing so. But what neither of them counted on where the feelings that they would have toward one another. But things are not smooth sailing. Really enjoyed this book and this author's writing.

This one shouldn't be read on it's own, too many inter connection characters and the story line was part of the last book. Now with that being said this one was really sweet. I really liked how Tanner was smitten with Amanda from the start, let her know, but also let her know it wouldn't stop him from protecting her and Oliver, he even took her to a shooting range to get her comfortable with guns. I also really liked how Tanner jumped in with Oliver despite never having been around kids before. But what really sealed the deal for me was how Tanner reacted when Amanda talked how Oliver's father and their relationship. He never looked down on her or thought bad of her.

On a side note, I loved how all of Oliver's siblings were with him and Amanda. Amanda had a lot of reason to worry there, but all she got was welcoming arms, no rancor.

After his marriage ended Tanner finds himself in Maui looking for a new beginning as he makes plan to open a firing range so that he can teach others how to shoot. When he is offered the opportunity to protect a mother and her son for a week from an unknown assailant, he never expected that she might just become his new purpose in life.

To say that Mandy’s romantic past is complicated is an understatement of gigantic proportions although she could never regret her son Oliver. She doesn’t know who is after her or why but the one thing she does know is that Tanner makes her feel safe.

There is no denying the chemistry and connection between Tanner and Mandy and although their journey is complicated by her past, they prove that the only place they belong is with each other.

More Than Protect You is book 6.5 of the series. This one can be read as a standalone. It is a novella so while the story isn't long, it still packs quite a punch. You won't experience a slow burn because of that so we will be in an instalove scenario between Tanner and Amanda.

Tanner is going through a divorce and looking to start fresh. While Amanda needs some time away from life. These two cross paths after Amanda deals with a break in and winds up with Tanner as her bodyguard to keep her and her son safe.

Shayla Black nailed it with this novella. I really enjoyed the plot, the characters, and that even though this was an instalove there was still plenty of details.

I highly recommend More Than Protect You!

I really loved this addition to the More Than Series. It was perfect and just what we needed.

Tanner got way more than he bargained for protecting Amanda and her son. He never realized what he was missing and what he really needed in life. He instantly feels a spark and connection to her. He is drawn to her for reasons he does not understand.

Amanda is not quick to give in to her instant connection and attraction to Tanner. She is strong, but has been burnt. Can she trust Tanner?

Be ready because this gets steamy. It is an amazing storyline that will hook you from the very first words.

3.5*

This was an ok read. I mean it is a novella and the pace was fast but I did want a few more chapters for better understanding of some things that happened in the past.
The chemistry wasn't very believable for me but I found his protectiveness to be the better part of this story.

As an introduction to the series this was a fast paced and like said an OK read. But I wished it blew me away like most of the books in the series did.

Triggers: Underage relationship, cheating, stalking
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Tanner is seemingly trying to figure out his next move in life. He's in paradise to figure out whether he wants to open a new business or find something else to do with his life. When a friend calls and asks for a favor, Tanner is hard pressed to turn him down for two reasons: one - he needs the money and two - he sees her.

Amanda is running. After someone breaks in to where she is staying, she can't help but feel unsafe and like she's putting everyone who knows her in jeopardy. She has to be able to protect her son and herself, but also wants to have a relationship with her new found family. It's quite the dilemma. With her past haunting her and her future uncertain, can she truly trust Tanner?

When Amanda and Tanner truly meet for the first time, both are instantly attracted to the other. And, while it's kind of an insta-love situation, it didn't necessarily feel that way. This story fits very well in to the series and I really enjoyed watching Amanda and Tanner navigate their feelings and the person or people who are after Amanda.

You'll enjoy this couple as much as the others and you get to see the other couples briefly as well! I can't wait for more books!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This novella fits in the More Than series, and is a very passionate, and yet sweet story, with a rather sinister element. I have loved the whole series, and would definitely recommend that you begin at the beginning if you have the patience. If not, then you will find out some elements out of order, but I can assure you the romances are all unique with a familial link running through them.

Here we meet Amanda, a childhood friend of Harlow, who fundamentally was groomed by Harlow’s father, and taken on as he executive assistant straight from college. As soon as she fell pregnant, he didn’t want to know, and worse, his company collapsed due to his illegal actions, forcing her into the spotlight, and into the attention of those who would wish her harm. She now finds herself in Maui with her baby, when she is attacked.

Tanner doing a favour for a friend comes to the rescue – but is instantly attracted to Mandy, possibly irrevocably, which adds to the complexity of her situation. As we get to meet the rest of the clan who want to support their baby brother, we can catch up with all the previous couples too.

Inevitably in a novella the love moves fast, but it fits with the situation and the people, so I was ‘more than’ happy to go with the very enjoyable flow.

This is such a fantastic book, I couldn’t put it down. It’s a fun and sexy read. I loved how quickly Tanner falls for Amanda (Mandy). They have such chemistry, but she’s in danger. He’s hired to protect her and her son but they can’t help their feelings. I loved them together and felt for her as she opens up to what happened to her. Loved staying on edge, who’s after her? I didn’t expect to cry so much, I felt heartbroken towards the end. But I absolutely loved their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

FINAL DECISION: For such a short story, this packs a lot of character and relationship building in. I enjoyed this very much as Tanner and Mandy have an instant attraction, but takes time for them to get to know one another. Much of the story is told in a quick fashion, but I liked these two together.

THE STORY: Readers of the series know about Barclay Reed, the father of several main characters in the series. Barclay Reed managed to father various illegitimate children by taking advantage of women in his employ. Amanda Lund is the daughter of one of Barclay's friend and is also the father of her one-year-old son. Even though Barclay is dead, his legacy lives on as someone is threatening Mandy. Enter Tanner Kirk, who agrees to be her bodyguard.

OPINION: I enjoyed this story, perhaps because it feels like a landing spot for the series meaning that we get to see all the couples and get updates. I enjoyed the relationship between Tanner and Mandy. The whole situation between them is not really complicated even though Amanda has a difficult past. Everything seems clear and straightforward so I am happy to just get to concentrate on all the character relationships.

I just really liked Tanner and Amanda who both are people who have made mistakes and are interested in moving forward together. I liked their conversations which seemed mature and designed to really understand one another.  I thought their romance was nicely paced, giving them time to get to know one another. Then the story gets hot!

The story is an easy read and because the length is short, it was a particularly enjoyable short read.

WORTH MENTIONING: This is a novella-length story with a nice bunch of updates about the couples so far in the series.

CONNECTED BOOKS: MORE THAN PROTECT YOU is book 6.5 in the More Than Words series. The romance here is self-contained and this can certainly be read as a standalone. However, characters from the series make appearances, and reading in order gives a fuller understanding of the whole storyline.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

I had started this one a while ago. The other night I was trying to find something to listen to while I was not going to sleep I as usual (me and my horrible, even worse insomnia issues). And I saw More Than Protect You and I was like --nice love listening to Christian Fox and Shayla Black combo and this one was interesting.

But it had been a while and I liked how it started so I went back to the beginning and started over again. It's a dual-POV story written in Tanner's and Amanda's viewpoints. I loved Tanner's POV and Christian's narration and just how into Amanda he was from the very moment that he heard her voice. And it only got more intense for him each moment that he was in her presence. I may have a weakness for novels where the hero is so gone on the heroine first. While he is protective, he's not a controlling a-*^&4 or anything like that, which is so common these days. It goes without saying Christian's narration is perfection as always.

Amanda's viewpoint is full of incredibly unexpected revelations that I won't spoil. She's an incredibly complicated person who goes through some things and comes through the other side a much stronger and wiser person.

I love their interactions. Their love scenes are steamy, intimate, and emotionally intense.

It's not action-packed, more of a relationship-focused story while his protecting her. Though it does have a couple of scenes of action. For a novella, Shayla tells a well-developed, complete romance.

I will just say something that anyone who's been reading this series won't be surprised by - Amanda's baby daddy not only aint ^&%, he is just an awful human being. After reading this one there really are not enough curse words and bad things to describe him. You know going in he's not a great person but damn!

IT’S STEAMY NOVELLA TIME! I’ve really been enjoying reading some romance novellas lately. I think it’s because I’m toe-ing that line of slumpsville and they’re keeping me entertained and short enough to where I’m not losing focus. It’s just that time of the semester I guess, plus, you know, the world is basically burning. But I was super excited to get an introduction to author Shayla Black with this one!

But where do I even begin with this?! It’s super fast paced but still extremely well written to where you don’t feel like you’re missing anything. Basically, the story fit perfectly into this little novella. Then there’s the characters, they were so great and I loved getting to know them. And lastly there’s the romance! Phew! I loved it!

As I said, this is my first introduction to Shayla Black. I really love these 1001 Nights novellas because they allow me to check out new authors before taking the “full” plunge into their stories (or they just give me more of some of my favorite authors). And so far I have yet to be disappointed by one! So I’m really excited to add some more Black to my reading!

You can view my full review on my blog! I also post about a lot of different types of books!

This is book 6.5 of the series it can be read as a standalone but the characters from the books before make appearances. However you won’t be lost if you’ve not read those because it’s a story about Tanner and Amanda not the other couples. It is a novella so it’s not a long story but it is complete. However since it’s a novella you get instalove between Tanner and Amanda.
*
Tanner has just came to Maui to figure out what to do he’s going through a divorce and looking to start over. He’s been enjoying a few days on the island, scouting out areas for a gun range he’d like to open and run. Amanda has just arrived in Maui to stay with her half sister to escape being hounded and stalked by the press over things beyond her control. She just wants time away and her son Oliver to be safe. However that doesn’t happen there is a break in and Amanda is threatened and Tanner is asked to provide bodyguard duty to keep her son and herself safe.
*
Overall it’s well written, it’s a complete story with a HEA. I enjoyed this book, I’ve really loved this series. Tanner and Amanda were amazing characters. I’m looking forward to reading more of this series it’s been one of my favorites.

Another heart-melting novella to the epic More than Words series, but part of the 1001 Dark Night tales. We get our first glimpse of Tanner and Amanda at the end of More Than Dare You, number 6 of the series, and I knew there would be some feisty chemistry between the two of them... Shayla didn't disappoint.

In no truer fashion, Shayla Black gives us two great characters that readers everywhere can relate to. Tanner, the bodyguard whose been burned by his ex, is sent to protect Amanda, the naïve, young lady, and her son. but can Tanner keep his distance physically while his heart yearns for her heart. And don't discount Amanda, whose heart tends to make drastic decisions towards older men. Can she rely on a man and trust him to keep her safe from someone whose stalking her?

This novella is easy to follow, but it's best to read More Than Dare You in the series to grasp certain elements prior. I do like how each story in the series keeps progressing in a tanglement of webs, and you watch to unfolding of characters develop before your eyes.

2/5**. This is Amanda and Tanner’s bodyguard romance novella in the More Than Words series.

Amanda, forgotten and ignored daughter of billionaire Douglas Lund, has an underage romance with her father’s friend a creepy married lecher, Barclay Reed. She continued this affair for many years, became her married lover’s office assistant, and eventually became pregnant. He fired her and walked away never acknowledging his child. Following Reed’s recent criminal case and death, Amanda, now 26, is in danger and needs a bodyguard.

Tanner, recently divorced and looking to start a shooting range business in Maui, is drawn into this extended Reed/Lund family mess and hired to protect the very sweet but not so innocent Amanda. Wildly inappropriate and unprofessional, Tanner starts hitting on Amanda and they are boinking and in love within hours. Tanner discovers who’s been stalking Amanda, solving the mystery, and within minutes is fired because of her mistrust. Give me a break!

This series about the rich and morally corrupt business men and their legitimate and illegitimate offspring is simply ridiculous and not the least bit romantic.

I loved Amanda & Tanner’s story. Tanner is in Maui trying to start over. He left his home & soon to be ex-wife behind and is trying to open another shooting range and move forward. As a favor for his friend, he agrees to be a bodyguard for a woman until she can find someone else. Amanda and her infant son are being chased by mobs of people angry at her ex. They are attacked in at the house they are staying at. The minute Tanner hears her voice it is calling to him and once he sees her, he is instantly attracted to her. Amanda feels the same pull to Tanner. This is a fast building story that will captivate you with the deep emotions that Amanda and Tanner feel for each other and those they consider family. Will meddling forces outside their relationship will almost make them miss the best thing they have had in their lives? Can they overcome their trust issues and make it work? Shayla Black’s stories always keep you wanting more. I love this series and can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, heat, secrets, and sweet love.

If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading those books first:
More Than Want You (More Than Words, #1)
More Than Need You (More Than Words #2)
More Than Love You (More Than Words, #3)
More Than Crave You (More Than Words #4)
More Than Tempt You (More Than Words #5)
More Than Pleasure You (More Than Words #5.5)
More Than Dare You (More Than Words #6)

This is Mandy and Tanner’s story. She wanted lessons. He wants her. But he has secrets. He didn’t want to fall for her, but her heart and battered soul drew him in. But what happens when secrets are revealed? Can he explain or will she not be able to understand or forgive him for those secrets?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

More Than Protect You is #6.5 in the More Than Words Series. What I love about the 1001 Dark Nights books is that it is an introduction to an author that you would like to read. It can be read as a standalone but it is a part of a series from the author.

This is a novella, instalove romance. So you might have to suspend reality from this book and just believe in romance.

This is Amanda “Mandy” Lund and Tanner Kirk’s story. Tanner is going through a divorce. His marriage has really been over for a while now. Mandy is a single mom and is in need of being protected. She hires Tanner to protect her and her son.

Things get pretty heated up and fast. Get ready for a pretty steamy story. It was great to see all the other characters from this series showing up in this book. I look forward to reading more from this author. She really knows how to keep you turning the pages to her books.

Tanner is in Maui to start over, he left his soon to be ex wife behind and is ready to open another shooting range and move forward. Ine day he recives a call fro his friend asking to be a bodyguard for a woman Amanda and her infant son who is being chased by mobs and attacked in her house because of her past relationship with Barclay who died a while ago. The minute he walks into the house he hears this voice that is like a swann song calling him over. This fast building story will captivate and enchant you with the deep emotional connections Amanda and Tanner feel for each other, but her meddling father and brother will almost make her miss the best thing she has in her life for a life of luxury with a man of their choice. What will Mandy choose? Can she trust again? So many questions on the table makes this an entertaining story that I volunteered to read.
