All the people, so many people… would love this Blur home!

Are you a successful fella? Or a city dweller? Or do you even feel caught in a rat race? Not just part of the time, but terminally?

If any of these things apply to you, maybe you should think about having a new start and moving to a very big house in the country….

If you haven’t guessed it already, the house, full of ‘rural charm’, which inspired Britpop band Blur’s first no.1 hit ‘Country House’, has been put up for sale!

The beautiful Bedfordshire property’s current owner David Balfe, former keyboard player of the band ‘The Teardrop Explodes’. Balfe first met Blur when he signed them to his record label ‘Food’, propelling them on their road to stardom.

However, 21 years ago Balfe made the decision to sell his label to EMI and move to the countryside village of Barton-le-Clay. This career move sparked Blur to write their hit ‘Country House’ about Balfe and his new life away from the spotlight. Given the nature of the lyrics of the song, some people may have been slightly offended to be portrayed in that way, but Balfe compares it to being portrayed in the National Portrait Gallery – ‘it’s the painter who’s on show, but the subject is still proud to appear’.

The property itself is stunning; Grade II listed with 7 bedrooms, 4 acres of land, and a separate barn annexe: it is certainly fit for the famous.

We love the spacious nature of the rooms inside the house; these together with the 5 reception rooms make it the perfect property to entertain all your friends and family whilst living your very own Parklife!

Since the property is located slightly outside of Barton-Le-Clay, it means that whilst being close to shops and rail links to London and Milton Keynes, it feels as if it is in the middle of the countryside, offering a buyer the change to escape from the rest of the world without really escaping!

So, if you have a spare £2million in your pocket and want to own a slice of British music history, get yourself on the train to Bedford now!
