Hawaii is converting old buses into shelters for homeless people!

Idyllic Hawaii is doing their part for the environment and the less fortunate, and in a beautiful way!

The cities of Honolulu and the island of Oahu are planning to do something purely spectacular for those in need, they plan to transform 5 old city buses into homeless shelters, others into showers and some into recreational rooms. Designed by Hawaiian based architects Group 70 International.

The buses are in fine working conditions, however can no longer be used as normal buses because they have racked up too many miles. This group of architects sees great potential in these buses to be a safe-haven for local homeless people.

They will be built by volunteers with no trade skills. According to May Ry Kim, a principal at Group 70, "the entire design is based on the premise that you could walk into a hardware store, buy everything you need in one go and build the whole thing with no trade skills."

Each bus will have it's own specific purpose. One will serve as the restroom and shower facility, while another will contain beds. According to the Huffington Post, The group has gotten some donations, but is still figuring out who will operate the mobile shelters and where they'll be deployed.
