Track & Field Adds Three To Recruiting Class

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State head track and field coach Mason Rebarchek has announced three additional signees who will join the Warriors for the 2015-16 season.
 
Tamara Price, Miriam Scholl and Amanda Wanie will join the Warriors next season along with Allison Johnson, Kailey Reynolds, Kari Schneiss, Emma Severson, Nikki Staffen and Maria Wrage who joined during the fall signing period.
 
Price, from Appleton, Wis., will be a high jump participant for the Warriors. Price was a highly accomplished athlete at Appleton North High School, as she was a WIAA Division I State Track & Field Championships participant in the high jump in both 2014 and 2015. She finished eighth at the state meet in 2014 and ninth in 2015, with both jumps tallying at 1.57-meters (5'2"). She also finished third at the 2014 Fox Valley Association conference championship. Her personal best set in the event was 1.62-meters (5'4").
 
Price will be majoring in Physical Therapy and said it was the beauty of Winona that drew her to the Warrior program. "Winona is absolutely beautiful and a great scenery change from Appleton," said Price. "I cannot wait to further my education and track career next year."
 
Fellow Fox Valley Association rival Scholl, from Kimberly, Wis., will join Price and will be a hurdler for the Warriors. In her career at Kimberly High School, Scholl participated in a state championship in the 300-meter hurdles and received numerous Fox Valley Association all-conference accolades. She finished ninth at the 2014 WIAA Division I State Track & Field Championships in the 300-meter hurdles with a 46.11 finish time. She also received First-Team All-Conference accolades in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and 4x400-meter relay during her fantastic career.
 
Scholl will be joining Winona State's Athletic Training program this fall and claims that the program's diversity was the biggest draw for her. "I loved the opportunities for diversity and advancement that my major offers," said Scholl. "I chose Winona State because of its beautiful campus."
 
Wanie is another hurdler that will be joining WSU's program this fall. Wanie, from Jackson, Wis. is a West Best West High School standout that has also competed in state championships in both the hurdles and relay. Wanie finished fourth in both the 300-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter, as well as finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2013 WIAA Division I State Track and Field Championship. Wanie finished as a Wisconsin Little Ten conference champion in the same three events in 2013 and also came away with the conference championship in the 100-meter hurdles in 2012.

Wanie plans to join Winona State's nursing program and looks forward to the challenge. "I believe Winona State will challenge me both academically and athletically, as well as offer me an opportunity to flourish as a person," said Wanie.
