This Mom Asked Her Daughter For An Awesome Haircut Before She Undergoes Chemo

Pretty in pink.

This is mother-and-daughter pair Janet and Sarah Kelleher of Columbia, South Carolina. Janet is a published author and Sarah is a server, and the two are as close as can be.

Janet had breast cancer 14 years ago, and was in remission until recently, when she was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma.

Knowing she was going to undergo chemo again and could potentially lose her hair, Janet decided to do something fun with it, and asked her daughter to help.

Being a total badass, she opted for a bright pink mohawk, which Sarah was happy to help her achieve.

Sarah told BuzzFeed News that the new 'do was entirely Janet's idea. "No convincing needed," she said. "She called me one morning and asked me to come over and she had the hair dye and clippers ready to go."

After the haircut, Sarah uploaded this pic of her mom to Imgur and Reddit on Monday.

The reactions since she posted the picture have been overwhelmingly positive, Sarah told BuzzFeed News.

"Redditors have offered to send my mom care packages, sent stories about times their loved ones went through cancer, one even illustrated mom as a comic book superhero with a 'FUCK CANCER' pink T-shirt on."

Janet is facing a double mastectomy after chemo, but is staying upbeat throughout the process.

"My mom's advice is look for ways to have fun in a bad situation," Sarah said.

Kick cancer's ass, Janet!
