Nats score four in the first, win ninth straight vs. Braves with 6-1 win

We weren't treated to another low-scoring pitcher's duel this time around between Shelby Miller and Jordan Zimmermann. Washington scored four in the first inning en route to a 6-1 win. The Nats have now won nine straight against the Braves.

Before you could even blink, Washington already had a run on the board. Denard Span singled leading off the game and Danny Espinosa brought him home with a double, one of his three hits in the game. A two-out single by Wilson Ramos scored Espinosa and Clint Robinson hit a towering two-run homer to right. Miller gave up more hits in the first inning than he did in seven innings of his previous start against the Nats.

Four runs was more than enough for Zimmermann, who pitched into the eighth inning, scattering six hits with six strikeouts against Atlanta's floundering offense. A fifth Washington run scored in the third when Danny Espinosa was caught in a rundown between third and home, and A.J. Pierzynski threw the ball into left field.

Miller's 10 strikeouts set a new season high, but he allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings.

Jake Brigham and Ryan Kelly had their debuts after Miller departed. Brigham tossed three scoreless innings with four strikeouts; Kelly allowed a run on two hits in the ninth.

Juan Uribe homered in the ninth for Atlanta's lone run.
