My desire to see grassroots advocacy professionals receive the organizational stature they deserve has come to fruition. That was not always the case.
As I was leaving my corporate grassroots management position, I was told by a 'man of a certain age' that he was surprised that so many men were applying for my position because, “Isn’t that something women do?” (and he did not mean that as a compliment, I assure you). I looked at him like he asked me to levitate and for once was without words. Thankfully, times have changed, and he has long since retired.
