James Bay is glad he didn't spot One Direction stood watching his set side of stage at Glastonbury as it might have put him off.

The Hold Back The River hitmaker performed on the main stage this afternoon and girls in the crowd went crazy when they spotted Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.

James told Mirror Celeb: "I've met Niall, he came to my show in LA, he's a lovely lad.

"I didn't know they would be watching and I guess I'm kinda glad I didn't see them. I didn't have chance to look further than the crowd. It went on forever. It's cool that they came to listen, though. And we'll see if the rain stops whether I see them again.

"I'm staying in my tour bus. It's very modest, just a little bed and my X Box. I plan to go and see some sets and I've also heard good things about The Rabbit Hole.

"One of the members of my crew got lost there a couple of years ago. He was just in a dark room for an hour. He crawled in and couldn't find the hole to crawl out of.

Mirror Celeb asked James about his naughty festival antics and he insists he's never had sex at Glastonbury.

He said: "I've never had sex at Glasonbury but I read about the four friends who were conceived here and they come back every year together. I think that's great - so everyone should keep doing it!"

James said he can't wait to see Florence and the Machine headline the Pyramid Stage tonight after they were bumped up the bill to replace The Foo Fighters and he plans to start drinking now after his "overwhelming" set.

"I was at a festival in Belgium with her [Florence Welch] this week and sat behind the main stage. She's amazing. I met her and she came running off stage, still flying after the set. She wasn't drinking last night. I heard she doesn't drink.

"She was really friendly, she just said, 'Nice to meet you' and I said it was a great set."

Asked if she gave him any tips ahead of his Glastonbury set, he said: "No ... and I can kind of understand why. This is going to be one of the biggest gigs for her so I was just telling her congratulations and to have an amazing time."
