CRESTLINE–A new coffee shop in the heart of Crestline is giving coffee lovers the “jolt” they crave.

Spots Rolling Bean Coffee, 211 S. Thoman St., is brewing up a variety of coffee beverages since it officially opened on June 7. But now the business has moved from an Airstream trailer parked outside to its indoor location for the winter months.

“Business has been good, really, really good,” said owner Abby Hocker, a Crestline native. “My whole life I’ve loved coffee. I’ve literally been drinking coffee since I was four years old and always thought of opening a coffee business.”

Hocker, who worked for a year as a barista in Galion, said Spots Rolling Bean specializes in Americanos, lattes, and espressos in both hot and iced options, as well as hot chocolate, tea, lemonade, and popular boba drinks with their popping pearls.

Lattes, however, are the beverage of choice among customers, Hocker said, especially in classic flavors like vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut.

Fruit-flavored drinks and sugar-free options are also available in both 16- and 20-ounce sizes, she said.

The coffee shop is also pleased to now offer a selection of seasonal beverages, which debuted on its winter menu Monday, Hocker said.

They include peppermint mocha, sugar cookie, gingerbread, red velvet, eggnog, and toasted marshmallow flavors.

Hocker, a 2021 Colonel Crawford graduate, said she was encouraged by her parents, Allen and Heidi Hocker, to one day start her own business. It is named for Spot, the railroad dog from the city’s historic Amtrak train station who is buried near the shop.

On Thursdays and Fridays, the coffee house also serves a variety of hot soups. Cookies, scones, biscotti, and mini bunt cakes – all baked and supplied by Marigold Bakery in Shelby – are also available, including gluten-free options, Hocker said.

“We just have a great group of customers. We really care about our customers, and we want everyone to be satisfied with our drinks. We want them to come back.”

Spots Rolling Bean is open Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
