Two players who participated in spring practice will not be on the Alabama roster this fall.

Freshman running back DeSherrius Flowers will not be enrolled this fall "due to a recently discovered initial ineligibility issue," according to a UA news release. He enrolled in January and participated in spring practice. Privacy laws prevent Alabama officials from further discussing the eligibility ruling.

Coach Nick Saban also announced defensive back Jonathan Cook is "no longer a member of the team."  Cook's mother, Melissa Cook, told AL.com her son was dismissed from the team in a Tuesday phone call from Saban. The Spanish Fort graduate participated in three games as a redshirt freshman last year, but did not record any stats.

Flowers ran one time for two yards in the A-Day Game. After the game, Saban said he had a minor shoulder injury. Arriving in January after starring at Vigor High School, Flowers was a four-star recruit.

"Every day DeSherrius is getting better," junior running back Derrick Henry said in Apri. "He goes out there and competes, and that's all you ask for somebody to do is to go out there and learn, compete and get better. That's what he's been doing."
