2020 ‘Dafa Metti’ Directed by Tal Amiran
Under Paris’ Eiffel Tower, undocumented Senegalese migrants sell souvenirs of the monument to support their families back home. Each day is a struggle through darkness in the City of Lights.
A sad and dark story over beautiful everyday imagery darkened by the stories told.
Amazingly directed and told. Issues being brought to light that I didn't know existed in Paris.
A hard hitting look at the lives of Senegalese men as they struggle to survive and making money on the street of Paris to send back to their families. Shocking at the mistreatment that they are subjected to at the hands of the local authorities.
the film is heartbreaking as it comes to terms with the realities of senegalese migrants seeking to make ends meet for a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
the documentary is simple with it’s footage of different parts of paris and the voice over of migrants accounts and experiences of themselves or people that they knew are an eerie juxtaposition of a city that is so romanticised but has such a dark reality for some of it’s residents.

#LFF 2020 - Short #33
A powerful documentary short. Was a bit annoyed with the voice-over broll until I clocked that I this is really how it must be. Absolutely faceless, one of a crowd just trying your best for your family. And one day that could all just stop...
LFF 2020
This film makes creating a powerful short documentary look so easy...
The film is simply B roll of several Parisian corners with migrants selling souvenirs and some shots of their small home but it’s the voice over that makes the film what it is, a masterpiece.
BFI London Film Festival 2020
A touching documentary on Senegalese migrants.
Loved how the film felt so universal and intimate in it's minimal and subtle approach. Also, appreciate the documentary for embracing the creative/stylistic execution to portray the documentary. Just made the content feel much more emotionally engaging.
AFIDOCS 2020 At Home Streaming Film Festival - Shorts Program 1.
Haunting and moving, made more impactful by filming primarily at night with faceless characters that elevates the message, making it more universal.
