Afrofuturefest Looks To Raise $15,000 For New York Comic Con Booth

It used to be a joke, how white comic book conventions used to be. Not a particularly funny joke, but a joke nevertheless. In recent years, that has been changing a little. But it's not been a particularly smooth ride.

Afrofuturefest is a black pop culture experience that sets up at comic conventions and other events aiming to foster that new audience comic-con related. And is planning to return to New York Comic Con this year – if it can raise the funding, that is.

Afrofuturefest showcases the best in comics, gaming, and film from creators of colour and they are looking to raise $15,000 to make this year's Afrofuturefest, as they put it "THE.BEST.EVER."

In many ways, this works as paying in advance for what you can then pick up at the show – or have sent to you – and just makes the cashflow a whole lot easier to manage.

This year they promise they are returning  with bigger names, a larger, more diverse group of cutting-edge creators and more colourful programming.

These include David F Walker, Erika Alexander, Dawud Anyabwile, John Jennings and Shawna Mills. And more. You can get more information right here.
