KANSAS CITY — Food manufacturers are innovating in the snack segment to offer new bite-size snacks to on-the-go consumers who are turning to snacks for sustenance.

PepsiCo, Inc.’s Frito-Lay division is introducing Lay’s Poppables, a multi-dimensional, light-textured and crispy potato snack. The potato bites are available in white cheddar and sea salt varieties.

B&G Foods, Inc.’s Pirate’s Booty brand is launching three new snacks. New Pirate’s Booty Wild Tings baked crunchy corn sticks in Lotso Nacho and sour cream and onion flavors and Pirate’s Booty’s Ranch baked rice and corn puffs.

Smart Flour Foods is introducing Snack Bites, a new line of bite-size gluten-free pizza snacks made with ancient grains. Available in three cheese, uncured pepperoni and pepperoni and sausage varieties, the bites are filled with hormone-free cheddar and mozzarella cheese along with uncured, vegetarian-fed and antibiotic-, nitrate- and nitrite-free pepperoni in the meat versions.
