Gay Navy Seal: When it comes to same-sex marriage, what would Jesus do?

Brett Jones, the Alabama man who chronicled his experience as the first openly gay Navy SEAL, has a question for Roy Moore, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee: What would Jesus do?

Jones, who lives in North Alabama with his husband, asked the question in response to last week's Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in the U.S. You can see the video of Jones' reaction below, but here's some of what he said:

"What are religious establishments that oppose gay marriage giving up as a result of the Supreme Court decision? Really, nothing but there is something I think and something that's very important to them and that's control. They are losing control.

I wrestle a lot with people like Roy Moore, Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee just to name a few who want to unjustly oppress gay people, an entire group of people, so badly. I honestly think it goes back to that control.

Love between same-sex couples has been demonized for so long it has been seeded deeply in people, much like racism has. It gets passed down from generation to generation.

At the end of the day, it's important to know we're all going to have different views and that we really are stuck on this planet together, so Rick, Roy, Sarah and Mike and all the rest of you, the next time you purposely go out of your way to oppress an entire group of people, I really want you to ask yourself: What would Jesus do?"
