The listing describes this Victorian as “too chic for words”—and while we would normally find that statement hyperbolic, it feels appropriate in this case. You may be better served by scrolling down to see the pictures, but at any rate, we’ll give describing the Garden District beauty a go.

Built circa 1872, the two-story home sold for $565,000 in May 2017, when it was a gutted shell with a historic facade, sitting on a dismal gravel lot. Since then, it’s done a complete 180.

A to-the-studs renovation by Sun Custom Restoration lent gloss, style, and an additional 1,400 square feet of living space to the abode, bringing its footprint to 3,225 square feet. If that’s not big enough for you, know that the wiring, plumbing and sewer lines for a guest house have already been laid.

A heated saltwater pool and fire pit star not only in the backyard, but also in the open living area, thanks to a dramatic rear glass wall. The clean-lined, contemporary kitchen includes industrial-chic touches like stainless-steel Thermador appliances, exposed beams and ductwork, and polished concrete floors—all counterbalanced by luxe Cambria quartz counter tops and a solid soapstone sink.

Graphic, whimsical wallpaper and tile work are present in the kitchen and bathrooms, livening up a grayscale palette that could otherwise feel somber. The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home sits on an oversized lot a block off St. Charles Avenue. It’s asking $1,300,000.
